Eläkeläiset (Finnish for "pensioners") are a Finnish humppa band founded in 1993. They specialise in humppa and jenkka music and have been successful in Germany, Finland and elsewhere. Current members of the band are Onni Waris (keyboard, vocals), Petteri Halonen (keyboard, guitar, vocals), Lassi Kinnunen (accordion, vocals), Martti Waris (bass, vocals) and Kristian Voutilainen (drums, vocals). Ilmari Koivuluhta (sound technique, logistics) and Pekka Jokinen (graphics, merchandise) complete the "humppa family". According to the band's statements, they play between 80 and 100 concerts per year, of which only 20 in Finland and 40 to 50 in Germany, due to their popularity there. Rarely performing in big venues, they have visited several big international music festivals, and surprisingly too many, even large heavy metal festivals e.g. Wacken Open Air and Tuska Open Air. They travel mostly on a private lorry and no bus. Eläkeläiset mainly play cover versions of famous pop and rock hits in a fast humppa or slow jenkka style (both sound somewhat similar to polka music the way "Weird Al" Yankovic plays it) with Finnish lyrics — the original songs are barely recognizable. They also publish bootleg recordings of their own concerts.
Humppanirvana (Smells like teen spirit) Elän Humpalla (Livin' on a prayer) Humppasonni (Join me) Jääkärihumppa (Final Countdown) Hulluna Humpasta live (their own song) And there's more in youtube but I don't want to put them all here. Youtube had some good comments from different countries so I thought that you'd like it too :v:

are they playing their instruments badly on purpose?
Freud Marx Engels & Jung is waaaaaaaaaaaay better. Not saying that eläkeläiset is bad, but FMEJ sound more professional, but still keeping that awesome humor they're known for. Miksei semmosia judeja kuin jeesus enää oo (They're not making jews like Jesus anymore) Genious lyrics and great interpretation.
Believe it or not, this band is HUGE in Germany and has been in Wacken for many times! These guys are absolutely awesome live. They really get people in a good mood!

They were told that germans are really ashamed of their history and they weren't allowed to say anything about nazis/homosexuals. As soon as they got on stage they yelled "HEIL YOU HOMO HITLERS" :v: [editline]9th July 2011[/editline] And now they're pretty popular there.
