It’s been rumoured for months that EA are working on police-themed spin-off from Battlefield and now at last there seems to be hard evidence in the form of… Battlefield Hardline.
source
a swat team based battlefield. interesting, something tells me it will be a dumbed down swat 4.
Didn't know King took over EA
of a S.W.A.T. team based Battlefield.
Remember that Call of Duty: Police Warfare pitch? :v:
Here's a fucking idea. Instead of continuing the repetitive, super serious Battlefield games like 3 and 4, why not spin back to the Bad Company series. I had hundreds of hours of joy playing Bad Company 2 with my mates in it's prime, and I think I speak for plenty of people when I say it would be a lot better than some SWAT game. Come on, I want to know what happens in Alaska.
I know this is probably going to be nothing like SWAT 4, but I can hope, right?
If this is gonna be like the last 2 battlefields. It's gonna be buggy as hell.

I hope they introduce functional multiplayer to the series with this instalment.
Theme song is a Bad Boys remix with an insane bass boost

Fuck it, I WANT A NEW 2142 in the same spirit of 2142; give me an upgraded titan gamemode, new walkers and I'm fuckin set. Last thing, they have to bring back the pod-launching that the 2142 beta had. That has to be my absolute favorite form of transportation in a game.
Well, at least it's a different team doing this one; I'd hate to see DICE putting out ANOTHER Battlefield game on top of still fixing Battlefield 4 and working on Battlefront 3.
Theme song is a Bad Boys remix with an insane bass boost
they take out the vocals and replace them with bass robot vocals
Here's a fucking idea.
Imagine a SWAT shooter, but with Bad Company styled characters, so you get super attached to your squaddies. Maybe permadeath after missions and stuff, so you have to add new members to your team, much like XCOM. Each squadmate would have their own specialties and equipment that you could level up separately and use to your advantage. But that makes sense and therefore will not be used by EA.
Why Battlefields have always been rather terrible for extreme close quarters This is not what the franchise should be about, what a load of shit Anyway, give 2143
there's a reason why they wont to do bc3, they said it before forgot the specific reason but it was stated
I read that with Mirrors Edge and the new Battlefront its just on hold. Hopefully.
I hope it has some of the things Battlefield 2: Special Forces had - Ziplines, tear gas, grappling hooks etc were great.

Nah I'm putting too much faith in them for that.

Still waiting on 2143. Doesn't sound that great anyway, a SWAT-based FPS would probably be on a pretty small scale, which will take away BF's large-scale battles and vehicular combat.
The main problems with Battlefield 4 are that it's buggy, and the maps take forever to load, they literally have to just fix those two things and I'm willing to play again.
F2P Facebook game.
I don't trust EA to make a real SWAT game. It will just be a reskinned battlefield with some gadgets, don't get your hopes up.
The Riot shield is on that list, I wonder if the Riot shield in BF4 is a result of it being in that game.
"Hey guys, we gonna make a new game?" "Naaah, just rerelease BF3 again."
being completely honest; BF2: special forces expansion was fucking awesome in my opinion. The grappling hook, nightvision, night-styled maps, zipline, and all of that could apply to a SWAT styled BF game, and be expanded upon [editline]27th May 2014[/editline]
I hope it has some of the things Battlefield 2: Special Forces had - Ziplines, tear gas, grappling hooks etc were great.
ultra mega agreed
What? Half of those weapons weren't in BF3, also if they're really making a SWAT game their choice of firearms is rather limited regardless since SWAT doesn't have access to even a third of the weapons the army does.
But half of them were. And they're the exact same models as were used in BF3, and BF4.
It'd be sweet if it was set in a futuristic dystopia & featured SWAT vs gangs. As someone commented, close quarters make for small battlefields, but think DREDD style mega-cities with outlandishly large tower blocks and you could have quite nice environments for large scale battles within urban environments. My concern is the weapon progression, which I think was a bit shitty in BF3 but not 4. You had seperate guns for each teams, which sorta sucked because the beginner US marksman rifle was brilliant, and the RUS one was shite.

[editline]27th May 2014[/editline] We haven't even seen the game yet, can we wait before shitting on everything??
Why give it a chance if the latest Battlefield games have left a lot to redeem? I expected a LOT more after BF3 and was served BF4.
