Each season depicts a 24-hour period in the life of Jack Bauer, who works with the United States government as it fights fictitious terrorist threats to the United States. Bauer is often in the field for the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) as it tries to safeguard the nation from terrorist threats. The show also follows the actions of associated CTU agents, government officials and terrorists.
24 is an action-drama show starring Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as he tries to stop terrorist plots in the USA and sometimes abroad. This thread is for the current ongoing season, number 8, which revolves around weapons-grade uranium smuggling and a fictional Middle Eastern republic's struggle for democracy in a history of dictatorship. A big difference in this season from past ones is it takes place entirely in New York City, instead of Los Angeles or Washington DC. READ BELOW AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM SPOILER TAGGING ANYTHING I CONSIDER TO BE PLOT-BREAKING, BUT PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Main Characters Jack Bauer General hero of the series. Officially retired, at the start of the season he intends to move west with his daughter (and grand-daughter) and settle down to life as a grandpa. [sp]However, doubting the experience of CTU New York, he joins with them first to stop the assassination attempt on President Omar Hassani and stays on to recover the uranium rods.[/sp] Renee Walker Returning from Season 7, Renee has been mentally destabilized from her experiences. She was a former FBI agent who was forced to retire after an incident in the Season 7 finale. [sp]She returns to Season 8 as an experienced Russian informant who is needed to find the location of the nuclear rods. She would also appear to be Jack's love interest, but this is not confirmed.[/sp] Davis Cole The "Jack Bauer" of CTU New York, Cole is a character new to Season 8. He is the courageous leader of field operations, doing whatever is necessary for the sake of justice. [sp]He is even willing to give up his life to stop the would-be assassin of President Hassani, but is saved by Jack.[/sp] President Hassani The President of a fictional Middle Eastern country. He is pushing for a more democratic and free state and is trying to enter into a peace agreement with the United States. [sp]After the assassination attempt, he becomes increasingly paranoid, violating his human rights agreements and threatening the validity of the treaty.[/sp] Farhad Hashemi (picture needed) Brother to President Hassani and Secretary of State. He is more suspicious of the Western powers and "traditional." [sp]He is the mastermind of the plot to assassinate his brother, and the buyer of the nuclear fuel rods.[/sp] I'd like to get a plot synopsis going, but contributions are needed
I love the series, but it's getting pretty "forced" I guess, like "yey we stopped the attack! oh no there's a nuek about to go off! yey i stopped nuke. oh no peter is terrorist. yay we stopped peter. oh no peter's death gave off a signal and now the moon will come crushing into the earth! phew, this was a long day..."
