24 is an action-drama show starring Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as he tries to stop terrorist plots in the USA and sometimes abroad. This thread is for the current ongoing season, number 8, which revolves around weapons-grade uranium smuggling and a fictional Middle Eastern republic's struggle for democracy in a history of dictatorship. A big difference in this season from past ones is it takes place entirely in New York City, instead of Los Angeles or Washington DC.

General hero of the series. Officially retired, at the start of the season he intends to move west with his daughter (and grand-daughter) and settle down to life as a grandpa. [sp]However, doubting the experience of CTU New York, he joins with them first to stop the assassination attempt on President Omar Hassani and stays on to recover the uranium rods.[/sp]

Returning from Season 7, Renee has been mentally destabilized from her experiences. She was a former FBI agent who was forced to retire after an incident in the Season 7 finale. [sp]She returns to Season 8 as an experienced Russian informant who is needed to find the location of the nuclear rods. She would also appear to be Jack's love interest, but this is not confirmed.[/sp]

The President of a fictional Middle Eastern country. He is pushing for a more democratic and free state and is trying to enter into a peace agreement with the United States. Brother to President Hassani and Secretary of State. He is more suspicious of the Western powers and "traditional." [sp]He is the mastermind of the plot to assassinate his brother, and the buyer of the nuclear fuel rods.[/sp]

I love the series, but it's getting pretty "forced" I guess, like "yey we stopped the attack! oh no there's a nuek about to go off! yey i stopped nuke. oh no peter is terrorist. yay we stopped peter. oh no peter's death gave off a signal and now the moon will come crushing into the earth! phew, this was a long day..."

I really liked Season 7, especially after [sp]Tony turned out to be a traitor.[/sp] Season 8 is good, but sub-par compared to 7.
