This is just so damn interesting!
Sorry if I'm late, this may have been posted before but I feel it's worth a second post,
It's roughly an hour and a half and comes in bite sized parts courtesy of Youtube.
If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest you watch it all in one sitting.
It's worth it!
Enjoy!

Yeah, I know. You'd think they could have at least gone into proper useage of a Razorback and what's the best type of Kukuri to use.
Hey, be happy they didn't add the 20 segments on hats!
G'day g'day g'day
fucking hardscopers...
It's a good show.
Fucking Americans and their yards.
This documentary in a nutshell "LETS REPEAT EVERYTHING 100 TIMES SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS*DRAMATIC MUSIC*"

The History Channel does have some decent shows once in a blue moon.
Really cool video, watched it in military history.
The way they measured everything in miles was rather annoying.
"be polite, be professional and have a plan to kill everyone you meet." wtf they stole that quote from tf2
"be polite, be professional and have a plan to kill everyone you meet." wtf they stole that quote from tf2
or perhaps tf2 stole it from the army phrase?
Uhmmm..
"The deadliest weapon on the battlefield- The Sniper.."
"Once you've hunted man, nothing else matters."
Bad sign. Snipers have such boring jobs, they lay in the same place for hours, days at a time with a fucking catheter up their penis and watch shit through a scope all day without moving or firing their weapon without explicit orders.
They're basically part of intelligence branch anymore, they're deployed like assets to observe and report on enemy activity. They do not 'HUNT' anyone because the minute you fire that rifle you're fucked and you've got to move and hopefully you get away.

"This weapon. Will change the face of the battlefield. Forever. - Referring to every weapon on Future Weapons.
Too bad those weapons are rarely used in any practical application.
They do kind of have a point, CodeMonkey. Unless you are a sniper yourself you have relatively low chance of sighting them, let alone killing them before they kill you.
Snipers basically work your own fear against you.
And besides, they're trained in Recon, too. You don't just go in and shoot everyone, generally there's a specific target.
More OT, I've heard of this, but I don't really like the way it is presented. I like stuff that goes chronologically.
snipers will snipe you before you even see them. True fact.
I really don't like the way they talk about their targets... the Afghanistan section was ok, but in the 2nd part when they start talking about sniping in Vietnam, and that guy cracks a joke about how 16 dead NVA soldiers became good swimmers as they floated down the river dead was tasteless.
Those NVA soldiers had wives and children, and their sense of duty was no less than ours... the dead should be treated with respect.
I love the continuous references to the dead bodies going down the river made by the soldier in part two.
"steady aim pro" you need that to even get into the sniper's school

Hi maybe read something about the coping mechanisms of soldiers in war, before making that comment.
They didn't mention that at those super long range shots (a mile and a half) that wind direction can change halfway to the target and be going the opposite direction, making shots even harder

putting punji sticks and shitting on them so your enemy can die a slow death isn't very honorable
these aren't like fighting WW2, I can feel sympathy for a the nazi soldiers
however these soldiers actually had a choice the US offered free healthcare and shelter to defectors and the chance to fight with them
Why don't I see this sort of stuff much on the history channel?
Because it's the history channel.
Man, watching this just makes me want to play Sniper: Ghost Warrior
I hear that game's on par with ArmA II's ballistics and sniping
Saw most of this on the History Channel over a year ago. Very interesting.
