M82 Barrett is now the Official State rifle of Tennessee
NASHVILLE (AP) - While Tennessee lawmakers last year balked at making the Holy Bible the official state book, they have shown little hesitance this year to designate an official state rifle.
The Rutherford County-made .50-caliber Barrett sniper rifle now takes its place alongside state symbols like the tomato as Tennessee's official fruit, the cave salamander as the state amphibian and the square dance as the state folk dance.
ironically this news genuinely makes me proud to be an american
:terrists:
FYI: The rifle is made in Tennessee. That's probably why they picked this particular rifle, instead of something less ridiculous.
Well, it's a fucking badass gun. Why not?
It's made in Murfreesboro, which is just a few miles from where I used to live

Doesn't Utah have the M1911 as a state gun for this reason too?

Yep, and I was actually surprised to find out that Texas doesn't have an official state gun. I thought for sure it'd be the Colt Walker.
I didn't know state rifles were a thing. Can Jack Daniels be our official state liquor since it's made here too?
With all the ridiculous shit that happens down here, I sometimes wonder if the south is a real place or some crazy Truman Show thing that everyone else watches for entertainment.
We've got something similar here in Illinois. Gerrymandering is the official state political ploy.

yee haw cowboy!
But, will I get a discount on a Barret if I move to Tennessee? I mean, I really want one, but the price always drives me away. I can get a Private Pilots license for the same price...

I live an hour's drive from the factory, apparently. Which I didn't even know until I heard about this. Go TN?! We build something neat!

I think Utah can claim all Browning's as he was born and raised there
