Wiki article:
Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer application software developed by the Yamaha Corporation that enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody.
so how does a nonexistent software have its own concert?

stopped it at 0:17
anime (faceplam) should have seen this coming
then started it again..
... that was.. intresting..
I don't think I wanna watch that shit, but the hologram looks good.
how's this hologram work
how's this hologram work
Probably just a projection on a piece of glass. That's what it seems like, anyways.
Probably just a projection on a piece of glass. That's what it seems like, anyways.
I think you see it in the video; looks like a thin film of purple as the glass probably reflected the light from around it
That was weird.
Movement of the characters really needs work.
if only I could play Garrysmod on this...
Vokashi Askatutkaki!

Same thing they do in Disney's The Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror.
I'm also quite proud to say that the first song on the opening post (Magnet) is one of my favorite songs created with Vocaloid software.
That's singing?
Very very late, i watched this months ago.

I don't think so... The 3D models appear to be dancing in the open, there there appears to be no mirrors or hidden roms and you could see the Vocaloids from multiple angles which I would think to be impossible for a mirror described in the wiki article
Movement of the characters really needs work.
That's how they move around in anime. Either that, or dual wielding M95 rifles while running in some awkward arm-flinging stance.
Honestly that is pretty cool. It was only in the 2nd video that I saw the glass on the stage because of the people's glow sticks.
Well done Japan, well done.
Edit: Skip to 2:05 on the 2nd video and you'll see the screen.
I don't really get how Vocaloid is so popular. It's probably a neat program but I don't get its popularity. I mean it's popular enough for people cosplay as that character. I don't get it is all, is there something I'm missing? :/

Hey, we anime nerds get to have our own sick fantasies too, don't we?
It's so pointless, going to see a animated concert is one thing like seeing "Gorillaz" but cheering at the screen and waving lights and all that shit.
Basically treating an animation like its a real person is just retarded.

Yeah, everyone should just stand there with a blank expression on their face.
wow anime face-to-face irl my life is complete
They should do this with the Gorrilaz live.
They should do this with the Gorrilaz live.
They have.
I wonder if these models have finger bones? Because I haven't seen them move their fingers?
At least at the Gorillaz concert, when holograms were used, the music was still done live. Nowadays the people either use silhouettes or just outright go on stage.

Except for the voices, the music was live here too.
Actually, Damon Albarn did the 2d vocals at the show, the rest were either recorded, or the on set rappers. They get a crowd of people on stage and they sing their parts.
but, its not prerecorded, the music (voice?) you can see being played.

They do, I forgot where but you can see one of the Vocaloids make a fist.
And yet it sounds so overwhelmingly artificial and robotic.
