They were primarily known for their approach to hip-hop music based on their Quirky, fun performances, and impressive sampling ability. His alias comes from the word "Yogurt", backwards. He dislikes the use of profanity in any of their lyrics. Which De La Soul is known for rarely ever using excessive language in any of their songs. He is a member of the Spitkicker Collective who believe "through the power and use of words, will set trends, unify cultures, and create positive standards for communities". His alias was created by combining the two words "Sop," meaning "leftover," and "Sound," and then reversing them. Who managed to help them produce and release 3 Feet High & Rising. Maseo, contributes the least towards the vocal sections of most of De La Soul's songs, as his orientation is more steered towards being a DJ. But on previous occasions he has shown himself to be a capable rapper. He is also responsible for the iconic laugh in the "Gorillaz, Feel Good Inc". Maseo is simply an abbreviation of Mason. But I tell you, as many times as I have changed those characters I'm still me" - Trugoy
love these guys :D
love these guys :D
Yeah they're pretty good.
To be honest, I only know them through their contributions to the Gorillaz albums, but I would love to get more into their own stuff.
De La Soul has got to be my favorite hip-hop group. For anyone that never listened to their stuff, get 3 Feet High & Rising or De La Soul Is Dead, both great albums and a good starting point.
