Explanation: "Video of a sandbox equipped with a Kinect 3D camera and a projector to project a real-time colored topographic map with contour lines onto the sand surface. The sandbox lets virtual water flow over the surface using a GPU-based simulation of the Saint-Venant set of shallow water equations."
That's pretty neat
Brings a whole new meaning to a sandbox game...
Expected a sandbox game with realtime water physics
That's fucking awesome. It would have been better if it updated the terrain faster though.

Holy shit, that's incredible.
Oh god it's like From Dust but in real life Oh, kinect, is there anything you can't do?
can someone post the diarrea ass?
can someone post the diarrea ass?
wat
can someone post the diarrea ass?
I've often wondered about the nature of existence, whether or not we humans and our culture are a miracle in a already miraculous universe, or just fleeting, macro-scale viruses that would devour their children to stave off their inevitable death for a few cosmic seconds. But now the veil is lifted from my eyes. All of those countless centuries of human development, the slow evolution of language, the progress of technology, all of these things have proven themselves worth it in that one perfect sentence. I like how if his arm stays still long enough, it attempts to map out the elevation of this new mountain.
Holy poop. I'd love to see a game made out of this! Having something like From Dust on this would be amazing, with projected villagers! AAAGH [editline]6th May 2012[/editline] auauauauahsgsassfhgagha

the kinect is good for everything except for what it was designed for

This (minus the actual sand - just a table and a projector) could make for an absolutely amazing RTS game. Imagine the creative freedom of Minecraft and the mechanic of From Dust mixed with hand gestures to control units.

Their shit is awesome:
Wow, imagine if they made that a game. Like you could place people and they'd make villages and such. Shit would be dope.
RTS video games + table top games in one. Make your own terrain.
Wow, imagine if they made that a game. Like you could place people and they'd make villages and such. Shit would be dope.
Isn't that exactly From Dust? It even has the fluid simulation, although it's obviously less fancy than the one shown above.
Umm...okay.
thanks, i've been looking for this vid
I want to play this so bad.
The only problem with this is that the water can't erode the sand because it doesn't really exist.
