I just hope they'll work on optimization as i can't even run it on the lowest settings without some lag while i can run metro last light on high with no lag.
i find the new helicopter flight model a bit floaty, for want of a better word. maybe i'm out of practice and maybe this is more realistic but it doesn't seem to translate well into the small island we've got for the beta. interested to try the big island with the choppers and planes at release
I just hope they'll work on optimization as i can't even run it on the lowest settings without some lag while i can run metro last light on high with no lag.
metro last light is a mostly indoors, linear fps with rudimentary ai and almost no physics modelling save for some simple asset movement and collisions arma 3 is a pseudo-simulator with bullet trajectory, drop, wind, and ricochet physics, with various flight, car, boat, and submarine models and complex ai being constantly calculated in a giant open world being able to run a pretty fps that eats gpu power is incomparable to the kind of rig required to run simulators. graphics options should be the least of your concerns
Helicopter hide and seek!
The question is obvious. Do the fish move out of the way?
The question is obvious. Do the fish move out of the way?
uh, kind of:
I've got a 580 and I am getting horrible fps on anything other than low-medium
I've got a 580 and I am getting horrible fps on anything other than low-medium
Stop playing wasteland
Stop playing wasteland
It's lagging on no matter which gamemode you play on.
Running 2 680m's here and I can't even completely run fluid on the highest settings....:suicide:
The game requires a powerful CPU more than a powerful GPU. Everyone experiencing problems is probably getting bottlenecked in that regard.
The game requires a powerful CPU more than a powerful GPU. Everyone experiencing problems is probably getting bottlenecked in that regard.
My desktop had a i5-2500k @ 5GHz and 2 570's in SLI. Still couldn't run it on the highest settings (fhd res)
The game requires a powerful CPU more than a powerful GPU. Everyone experiencing problems is probably getting bottlenecked in that regard.
3570k here Also, I don't ever play multiplayer. I want to mess around in the editor.

I'm getting really good frames with my setup. A single 7950 and an i5-2500k (not even overclocked)
what the fuck 5 GHz? what do you use your computer for, central heating?
Actually, Yes. During the winter it's the only thing heating my room.
I just hope they'll work on optimization as i can't even run it on the lowest settings without some lag while i can run metro last light on high with no lag.
Try medium. And don't forget the launch options. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline]
I'm getting really good frames with my setup. I can easily run 45-70 in editor depending on the area, with a mix of medium and high settings and I get about 30-40 frames in wasteland. I got gtx580 i7 950 @3.07 GHz ingame either your people are exagerating, its a blacebo in your head, or you got your settings wrong maybe that placebo comes from not disabling smoothing in the mouse control settings, god knows why BI still enables that by default.

comparing the empty editor with nothing in it except the landscape to a gamemode where there is tons of shit going on is silly also wasteland is the most poorly designed piece of shit to ever be modded into arma
I see the wookies have migrated.
comparing the empty editor with nothing in it except the landscape to a gamemode where there is tons of shit going on is silly also wasteland is the most poorly designed piece of shit to ever be modded into arma
Fair enough. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/vnkTOvz.jpg[/IMG_thumb] This is a map with 42 AI (30 hostile, 10 friendly including a helicopter) and it dropped 3 frames.
arma3 runs way better than arma2 on my system. they've optimised the shit out of it
arma3 runs way better than arma2 on my system. they've optimised the shit out of it
They really have. Everything maxed on Arma 2 and I get 35 frames.
I just hope they'll work on optimization as i can't even run it on the lowest settings without some lag while i can run metro last light on high with no lag.
You do realize that that's not a fair comparison right? In ARMA3 there's so much more CPU intensive calculations. Bullets are not just raytraced, they're actually following a realtime calculated trajectory which is compensated for wind, coriolis-effect. And the scale of the world is amazing in ARMA3 as well. An explosion 2 km's away, will still be audible and thus a radius of 2 km around you has to be calculated. It's nothing to do with optimization. It's to due with your shitty processor. I've got a i5 2500k, standard at 3,2 ghz I believe, I overclocked it to 4,5Ghz and ARMA3 runs so much more smoothly. Edit:// Took screens of my settings. Everything is smooth. All singleplayer scenario's are above 50FPS pretty much constantly. Multiplayer is at least 40, maybe some dips to 35. I've never looked into it because it's smooth and thus doesn't require my attention.
i5 2500k @ 4,5 Ghz (winter) en 4,3Ghz (summer) 8GB DDR3 Dual 6950 2GB's in crossfire Windows 7 64bit
im running a pretty moderate system and I'm running the game pretty damn smoothly on high-highest.
i can run it on the highest settings, just get slowdowns at random points across the map, but people got to remember that its still beta and will probably be optimized to hell at the end.
let me know when they make it so you can switch weapons without having to stop running
I better be able to strap like C-4 to those mini drones and dive bomb people with them.
Unless they fixed it, the lag you experience in wasteland etc is actually serverside. The longer the server runs the worse the lag is. This is just how the game works (for now); supposedly it will be fixed at some stage. Go find a deathmatch server that has been running more than 12 hours straight and you will probably get no more than 5 FPS.
