(CNN)Iran says it will ban all US citizens from entering the country in response to President Donald Trump's executive order limiting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, according to an Iranian Foreign Ministry statement published on state media Saturday.
Iran is among seven countries whose nationals are barred from entering the United States for 90 days under Trump's order.
The US ban is "an obvious insult to the Islamic world and in particular to the great nation of Iran," the statement said.
RIP a lot of mosquito/sand fly vector research
Appropriate response if you ask me.
We're in a new age of arms race, except instead of arms it's races. It's a Race Race.
welcome to hell
No way they weren't going to react to Trump's insane ban.
So now it's a tennis match, the ball being the double-citizenship iranians?

it's like a trade war, but with race
some kind of... race war
Oh no my travel plans are cancelled!!!
Oh no my travel plans are cancelled!!!
Its more about the message behind it, which I think is a fair thing to do considering the bullshit Trump just put out.
I somehow doubt this is going to cause even a tenth of the headaches that Trump's asinine bullshit caused.
Oh no my travel plans are cancelled!!!
...is something that people with iranian families might say
at least we got rid of Obama and shillery, amiright?
i hope our closer allies such as jordan, sadui arabia, the UAE and others do the same
This is just petty.

It's what kids do. But this time it's grown up, old, politically powerful kids.
This man's single-highhandedly rising tension around the globe. Isn't that enough to oust him?
There's an Iranian-American family who run a liquor store near me, I feel really bad for them right now. I might go give them my phone number in case they get some insane racists giving them trouble like what happened at JFK airport.
Damn, looks like we'll have to cancel our family vacation to Iran this year.
no doubt we'll get yet another quality shittweet from the Don complaining that the world isn't just rolling over when he wants it to

Of course not, but hopefully other countries will follow
Of course not, but hopefully other countries will follow
If this goes on and reaches braindrain stage, other countries will want to do the opposite. Most countries would benefit from decent american people.
Oh look, I can't visit my own family any more.
screw this
I have no idea why Iran is on the same list as Somalia and Yemen.
I have no idea why Iran is on the same list as Somalia and Yemen.
Because Muslims.
I think mr T and others had already foreseen this response. I wonder if the other countries banned will follow suit.
I have no idea why Iran is on the same list as Somalia and Yemen.
My guess would be the nuclear program and how they have been actively vocal with their denouncement of USA since the revolution, and that they got no major deals going on together - I think that is why Saudi Arabia and others wasn't banned. Obvious political reasons.

you mean the Iranian US nuclear deal that allows us to check on Iran so much that it would be literally impossible for them to build weapons without breaking the laws of physics? and even then they have been even more cooperative than the deal asked them too?
and they still should be punished?
Iran is slowly but surely moving to a more secular path. stuff like this actually impedes said progress and can easily make things get worse
Why Iran of all places? We've been doing pretty good with Iran recently. Wasn't Turkey threatening to open the floodgates of migrants into the EU if it didn't get its way once? Why not ban them instead?

By U.S government standards: no, that isn't enough apparently.
Until some Watergate-tier scandal or something else just as bad (inevitably) happens, Trump is going to stay in-office, no ifs, ands, or buts about it; even if he's impeached by that point, you have Pence the Fail-Safe who will make sure that Trump's policies won't be as easily reversed once he's out of the picture for good and still have to deal with 4 more years of complete bullshit.
Another thing: Trump isn't the only thing to worry about either at the moment; Europe with the UK and France going full bizarro territory as of late, Russia trying to assert further dominance through the Middle East, the ensuing conflict in Venezuela, and a possible lead-up to a battle between South Korea and North Korea for the latter's independence are all only but a handful of what's on everyone else's minds right now.
My guess would be the nuclear program
That was drastically scaled back thanks to Obama and international pressure.
and how they have been actively vocal with their denouncement of USA since the revolution
The Iranian government are some cocksuckers, don't get me wrong, but it's a stable state that isn't a hotbed of terrorism. Pretty much all the other nations on the list I can see compelling reasons to block travel from but Iran simply doesn't belong on that list.
and that they got no major deals going on together
Well they sure as shit aren't going to be making deals now that Trump's in office.
I think that is why Saudi Arabia and others wasn't banned. Obvious political reasons.
Convenient political reasons.
Who from USA or any civilised country would go there anyway. Oh come on, it's usually the opposite - they want to reach Europe/US, but no man from these countries would go there.

There is literally a user above who can't visit their family now.
