Gotta love the weekend rednecks of Illinois. Mostly normal run of the mill college jocks, but on the weekends and during the summer they put on their cargo shorts and take of their shirts and it's all about BEER AND MUD SPORTS until they have to return to society. [editline]banana[/editline] Source; I live in Illinois and my cousin is such a person.
"Mormonesque breeding rate" lol
10,000lbs in one go? holy fuck send these bastards to newfoundland, cod fishery is dead anyways
Things like the roundhead goby have benefited the Great Lakes by giving a steady food supply for aquatic predators like bass, salmon, and watersnakes, but these guys will bring nothing but trouble most likely. The only one which I could see bringing any benefit is the black carp which is known to eat zebra mussels by the fuck-ton. Also please note for anyone who might be interested in delving into this meat: You can buy two pounds of minced carp for about $1.50 right about now. I'd totally advise stocking up on it if you like light white fish.
I enjoy VICE's productions when it looks at problems that people kind of overlook. This was a very interesting video of something I never really heard of. I certainly also like the slower nature of their medium length videos. The host was also on the plastic gyre film.
The way the reporter handled the fish reminds me of my first time trying to unhook a fish. Actually, now that I think about it, I was also rather squeamish about hooking the worm to catch the fish.
These and Snakeheads. Total motherfuckers. Catch 'em, kill 'em, roast 'em up good.
It would probably be wise to try to implement this fish into the American cuisine as much as possible and to just fish the shit out of it with industrial grade equipment. Why not use it to feed the homeless and the people in need or something? There is probably enough fish in that lake to take care of the entire fucking American population even remotely labeled as "in need"
Crap. Whenever I watch something involving fish, I get hungry.

It is currently being given to low income families along the Mississippi River. With the price of Asian Carp at the moment, we could literally be able to give families roughly 50 pounds worth of it for something about $120. Not to mention that Asian Carp overall is probably some of the whitest meat you'll find in a goddamn fish:
Why would people think that these fish aren't fucking delicious? They do realize the reason they were imported is because people think they taste good right?
The reporter did not fit in at all with those fishermen.
Why would people think that these fish aren't fucking delicious? If we can fish out the oceans, surely we can fish out these things!
I've been meaning to eat more seafood, what does the Carp taste like? Is it similiar to Salmon or is it closer to something like Talapia? I want to know if their filets are good.

Delicious.
