The elections are rigged, in the sense there's a politically, economically, and culturally predetermined outcome that, if it isn't reached, simply destroys the system by challenging the dominant ideology developed from practice. It's not like trump's nationalism or Bernie's socialism is exactly compatible with liberal democracy and capitalism as we have it. That's why brexit is an awkward position more than a triumph and sweeping systemic change, and millenials are in a unique position as the political future, being past America's golden age and into worsening inequality and social mobility, politically polarizing as a result, yet saturated with information and a global worldview thanks to the Internet. The future is interesting if kinda bleak
