very fringe. Edit: actually I liked the fringe, this is very bland.
reminds me of destiny
I mean, the ST:Enterprise intro is a thing that exists so who knows, but this doesn't feel particularly Trek to me.
I mean, the ST:Enterprise intro is a thing that exists so who knows, but this doesn't feel particularly Trek to me.
I actually preferred the intro for the evil mirror universe: It shows the whole progression of "humanity is evil and we've just been building bigger and bigger ways to kill things and now we're going to invade space for the god emperor" kind of thing.
I love how the music starts out with this constant tremolo in the strings that brings an air of mystery, and it feels like it will release to this beautiful line. Then it becomes fucking trash.
All you guys being so critical but honestly I like it a lot more than this garbage.
I don't get all the hate on ENT's intro. It captures humanity's will to explore perfectly
Discovery's just seems like someone decided to hand draw Enterprise's (minus the goofy astronaut who isn't even in the show) and change the music to something slightly less wat.
The intro is relatively ok ... (could be way better tho) ... but the first two episodes ... so bad no wonder CBS / P tried to kill Axanar indie movie cause the 21 minutes Prelude to Axanar, was way better
but the first two episodes ... so bad
That's just a franchise tradition at this point.
Very surreal, it actually reminds me of a few French-Belgian comics. However, it’s not clear what it’s trying to convey. This is the future?, space is beautiful?, there’s a giant cosmic eyeball off the port side?
I don't get all the hate on ENT's intro. It's just not a song that should be too closely associated with Trek. But THIS. Is HOW. You INTRO. Star Trek. (disclaimer: one of these things is not like the others) Also fuck whoever thought it was ok to block the Discovery intro in the UK. I can't see shit.

I've heard pretty good things about the Orville. Including that the characters are flawed and human, just trying their best. Kind of like Deep Space Nine, in a way. Which I still hold as one of the best Treks. Also, speaking of Enterprise, I feel like Dr Phlox was the best character in that show. A lot of the others seemed a little too "bland", though I guess Shran was pretty cool too.
Is it just me or does the way the klingons speak sound off

seriously it's fucking annoying like, I'm no music expert, but anyone can tell that the main element of all the other (good) themes of star trek is the brass, which is front and centre why? because you need the power of brass instruments to really get across that feeling of the vastness of space - everything about the voyager and DS9 intros posted above screams bombasticity. They feel gigantic in scale, and that's just the intro, because you have horns absolutely filling your ears it makes what occurs in the show seem so absolutely grand but you listen to this intro and you're going along going "oh man here we go, here comes space", and then it gets to 32 seconds and the theme fucking shits itself and dies it gets to 32 seconds and then they forgot they were making a star trek intro and started thinking they were advertising hand made tools or something [editline]25th September 2017[/editline] it's holding pattern music that you hear thrown over people talking about investment banking
It's just not a song that should be too closely associated with Trek.
Funfact about Enterprise, there actually was an instrumental opening theme written for it that fitted a lot better in the established Star Trek style: Archer's Theme Note how they sync up perfectly. But for some magical reason it was swapped out, and used as the ending theme instead :pudge: And the ending credits are usually snipped off, especially when it's rerun or syndicated, so most people have never heard it.
I can't really put my finger on what exactly bothers me about the music (although a couple of the points made above sound close). What really gets me is the intro. As someone above said, it's like hand drawing the Enterprise intro. Although, with all the diagrams and expanding machines (eg: the communicator or phaser) does anyone else get a kind of WestWorld vibe?
Not being a fan or all that knowledgeable about the Star Trek series and universe I thought the music was respectable and the visuals were really nice. Pretty unique and well executed style IMO.
i made a director's commentary of the intro
It looks and sounds like a foreign company who never saw startrek made it. And just saw screenshots and fan art.
i made a director's commentary of the intro
this is a gem.
Bland and yeah, Westworld vibes. Pretty bad.
does anyone else get a kind of WestWorld vibe?
Holy shit this is the real thing. They tried to make it feel like the Westworld opening. This is exactly what they were wanting.
I think it's okay.
I expected the new show to be naff, and what do you know it was. I don't think a proper star trek show is possible these days [editline]26th September 2017[/editline]
Bland and yeah, Westworld vibes. Pretty bad.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed their desperate attempt to rip of westworld
