Synopsis Utopia is a six-part British conspiracy / thriller series. When five strangers on an online comic book forum decide to meet after one of them gains possession of the original manuscript for the unpublished second volume of the cult graphic novel "The Utopia Experiments", they find themselves being chased by an organisation known as "The Network", who are in pursuit of the manuscript and will kill to get it. Characters Becky is a bright and opinionated soon-to-be post-grad student. Her mum died when she was little, then in her late teens her father contracted a mysterious illness. Convinced there is a conspiracy surrounding her father's death connected to the Utopia manuscript, she is determined to find out the truth. Stuck in a job as an IT consultant that he thinks he's too good for, he still lives at home with his Mum. Wilson Wilson - yes, his first and last name is "Wilson" - is a survivalist geek and a conspiracy nerd who spends far more time than is healthy on the Internet. Brought up by his oddball hippy dad they have a nuclear fall out shelter in his back garden - just in case. Grant is a troubled and practically feral kid, who has built up a wall of bravado. His mum can't cope and has succumbed to the numbness of booze. Grant pretends online to be a city trader who drives a Porsche and shags supermodels, but is actually just 11 years old. All in all, a fantastic series in my opinion. Only two episodes have been released so far, with the next being broadcast on Tuesday, but I'm already hooked and cannot wait to see where they go with it. I was actually kind of surprised there wasn't a thread on this series already, since it seems like the kind of thing people on here would be interested in :v: But yeah, it's definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. I've been watching this. It's pretty good so far, hopefully it will keep it up.
Good to see Neil Maskell about again. How far in is this?
Good to see Neil Maskell about again. How far in is this?
We're up to episode two so far, with episode three coming out on Tuesday.
That first image is giving me a serious persona 4 vibe. Anyway, I'll probably check this out. Looks like one of those shows i'd either really like or really hate.
IT'S OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
isn't wilson played by the guy who played fessal from four lions [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] faisal, and yes wikipedia confirmed, sweet
I missed it, gonna have to catch up on 4od when it's over :v:
A school shooting, this will end well. :V
I swear to god, at the end of every episode I'm left thinking "where the hell are they gonna go from here", every one seems better than the last somehow
Shit me this is good, just finished watching the first episode. All I'm gonna say is, a fucking salad cream sandwich?
I haven't seen any television in a while that has made me wince quite as much as I did during that torture scene in episode one. [editline]1st February 2013[/editline] On a side note, does anybody know what filter they are using? Everything looks super colorful
Fantastic show. It's been a while since I've been this hooked to something new.
Seriously it's a shame there's not more people talking about this. It's such a great show plus the music in it works so well. I wish it was longer than 6 episodes though but I guess if they can sum it up in that time it should be all good.
Seeing as the finale's coming up on Tuesday, I do wonder what's gonna happen considering [sp]Wilson's gone traitor, Grant's been arrested and Jessica's read the manuscript.[/sp] What I want to know though is if Channel 4 will ever release the whole graphic novel to read, because that would be amazing.
Jesus this show is crazy! I'm on episode 2 despite being in America, thus making it harder to get my hands on new episodes. So many of these UK miniseries are leagues ahead of most of the crap on american television
Just finished watching the finale. [sp]...There's going to be a second series?[/sp]
Just finished watching the finale. [sp]...There's going to be a second series?[/sp]
[sp]There has to be[/sp] [sp]It was sad to see Wilson get killed. I have to agree with him though.[/sp]
Just finished watching the finale. [sp]...There's going to be a second series?[/sp]
I sure as hell hope so.
Not watched the finale but at the end of episode 5 they were advertising "Season 1" so It might make a return.
I'm kinda sad that its probably gonna have a second season. I thought it was perfect as a little self contained series. Like a six hour movie or something. But [sp]damn, Milner being the main antagonist I really didn't see coming. I had worked out that the old guy was Mr Rabbit (well I guess he wasn't really, but yeah) a few episodes back. I guess they made that pretty obvious on purpose. I didn't see Anya being a British spy too. I think, because Jessica has Janus in her blood, RB will have the 'cure' or something in his blood, cause it stands to reason. Janus is a two headed god looking in opposite directions, but with the same body. Jessica and RB were children of the same man, but went different ways. RB worked with the Network, Jessica against it. It seems pretty obvious RB would have the opposite effect to Jessica, plus RB liked kids. The cure to Janus would make people fertile again. I don't think he or Wilson died, we never actually saw either of the deaths. But yeah. Utopia was pretty fucking perfect. [/sp] here's hoping they don't carry it on for another 3 series and run it into the ground (here's looking at you, Misfits)
It threw a lot of curveballs, really good writing if you ask me. [sp]Half-suspected Milner soon as they said she wanted the Manuscript, but didn't expect her to be Mr. Rabbit[/sp]
Really? If they didn't have another season, I'd be pretty disappointed. I mean, [sp]the ending was essentially a cliff hanger[/sp]. Also, the last season of Misfits was pretty damned good, so I wouldn't say it had been "ran into the ground".
This was one of the better shows. I started to [sp]suspect Milner when they printed out photos of men only, plus the fact that they mentioned her name to be Lenore or something. I also suspected Jessica to have something in common with Mr Rabbit, because, you know, rabbits hyde.[/sp]
Jessica Rabbit Petr is similar to Peter, Peter Rabbit or yknow, I could be crazy. Also Frisk, I didn't want it to end on a cliffhanger. I wanted it all to be resolved in one series, because they could have if they wanted to.

Can anyone explain what the Network is and what their plan is? I'm interested to know.
[sp]I completely forgot the significance of mr rabbit, what was her role again?[/sp]
With [sp]the manuscript destroyed and a bit further out of sight of the plot now[/sp], would I be the only one interested in actually seeing all of the pages done up for the series scanned in and put online or something?
Can anyone explain what the Network is and what their plan is? I'm interested to know.
[sp]With the use of Janus, they intend on sterilizing 90% of the entire human population on Earth as a solution to a potential overpopulation disaster - they were getting Janus out via a vaccine for a disease called Russian Flu (Which didn't actually exist.) and used the UK as a test field.[/sp]
