Initially, the image was posted on NeoGAF by user Mideon, who later removed it, but not before it was saved and reposted. Techradar claims "a source close to the development of the new Red Dead game has confirmed to us the map is indeed the real deal." According to the site the image is "a very recent art direction map." The image, which you can see above, features the Great Plains, where the Blackwater area from the first game was located. Additionally, numerous islands can be seen on the outskirts, indicating the player may be able to either swim, or take a boat out to new locations. The game, which has not yet been announced by Red Dead Redemption developer Rockstar, is reportedly a prequel. The absence of a railroad, which was prominently featured in Redemption, is further evidence of this, the site says. However, it's worth noting that map has "railroad" in its key. Another interesting area featured in the map is New Bordeaux (bottom right). This is the area where Mafia 3, distributed by Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is set. It takes place in 1968.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-2-game-map-reportedly-leaked/1100-6438892/?ftag=GSS-05-10aaa0a http://www.techradar.com/us/news/gaming/this-is-the-map-you-ll-be-playing-in-red-dead-redemption-2-1319101
After hearing how awful RS has become, I would be skeptical on even trying this. That's not to say I didn't like the first RDR, but they've lost some people who had the utmost positive impact on that game's delivery.
Wasn't the first RDR map leaked too?

The content they make will still be good I feel.

Although if the documents are to be believed Benzies was a pretty integral player in RDR even to the end of development so I guess we'll have to watch this closely.

What the hell is "Red Dead Redemption 2"? Is it supposed to be the continuation of Jack Marston or is the title inaccurate?
What the hell is "Red Dead Redemption 2"? Red Dead Retribution sounds good to us.

i think the guys who make red dead are like a totally different section of rockstar. not entirely sure so don't quote me on it
They are. Rockstar San Diego vs Rockstar North Unless something has changed in the company since last I checked, which could be because that was years ago
man, i really wished the next red dead would involve jack getting tangled up in the mexican revolution, but a prequel works too i suppose
man, i really wished the next red dead would involve jack getting tangled up in the mexican revolution, but a prequel works too i suppose
I agree. The Mexico-based half of RDR was probably the most fun part of the story. Also had some of the most interesting locales, missions, and soundtrack. Fuck, the whole soundtrack was genius.
man, i really wished the next red dead would involve jack getting tangled up in the mexican revolution, but a prequel works too i suppose
problem with moving forward is that redemption was all about the death of the west
FYI before the hype train takes off, Techradar's only verification is "an anonymous source from Rockstar" (who, for some reason, leaks even more info), and the original leaker went crazy for attention so I'd take this with a grain of salt. There's also photoshop inconsistencies like the green dots/red line near the bottom left, mirrored islands on the right, generic names, it could just be concept art mockup but it also wouldn't be hard to fake.
problem with moving forward is that redemption was all about the death of the west
True. It would be cool to see a game set in prohibition era, but I'd prefer to keep to the old Western setting.
hope maybe this mean 1 comes to pc
I'm calling it now, it's going to be called Red Dead Revengeance
Red Dead Redemption was one of my all time favorite video games. I hope hope hope that a new one will carry that on.
man, i really wished the next red dead would involve jack getting tangled up in the mexican revolution, but a prequel works too i suppose
God no, I hate that little fucker.
problem with moving forward is that redemption was all about the death of the west
i mean, the metaphors for the end of the frontier era would be just as applicable in a setting based on the mexican revolution during in mid to late 1910's, while also throwing in some nice references to the beginning of modern international politics i just think it sounds pretty fitting for a rockstar game, plus red dead revolution is a good title [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] dunno why so many people hate jack so much tbh
Redemption wasn't a continuation of Revolver, so I'm skeptical this will be a continuation of Redemption.
True. It would be cool to see a game set in prohibition era, but I'd prefer to keep to the old Western setting.
I like to see a game with both, the Cowboys and outlaws rule the countryside while the mafia rule the cities.
Redemption wasn't a continuation of Revolver, so I'm skeptical this will be a continuation of Redemption.
revolver was a 2004 arcade action tps, redemption was more of a reboot than anything else [editline]16th April 2016[/editline]
I like to see a game with both, the Cowboys and outlaws rule the countryside while the mafia rule the cities.
that's honestly kinda what the 1880's-1910's were like

He acted the way he thought his father acted but without the context and understanding and upbringing John had and tried to steer Jack away from, so he embodies much of John's negative side and little of the positive. I don't dislike him as much because I think Jack is more deserving of sympathy, but I can definitely see why people dislike him.

What I'd like to see is a prequel to Redemption, where you play as a younger John , in Dutch's gang, with more emphasis on crime and such, leading up to the point where Marston was left for dead by the gang.
next RDR based on Irish please
I hope they keep a subtle supernatural thing going on [sp]that quest where you encounter what I interpret to be Death, and he hints at Marstons eventual grave etc[/sp]

Someone said it's set before RDR and the map seems to put some emphasis on gangs and banditry.

Apart from the multiplayer mods on GTA 5
Judging by the amount of water, steamboats and canoes/kayaks?
