Its all made from ash and for those wondering about the thinness and hollowness of the stem, when ash is still a young bush, the cores of its branches are soft and spongy and can be scarped out with a wire.
Not to bad for a first try, and i mean first try. No experiments where made previously, this is numero uno of my pipe making career.
Next step to whittle me a small hatchback.
I might be stupid or something, but won't the wood burn when you try and smoke? Or is there some sort of coating? Or does that just not happen?

My dad told me and some friends a story how he whittled one on a Boy Scout camp out with his friends (One of which was a druggie) and smoked a plant (Don't remember the name, but it wasn't weed) with them.
He took it home and one day it disappeared.

The thing that stops pipes from completely burning up is the carbon buildup inside them also called cake
cherry gmod was our chief whittler at camp facepunch, looking forward to you making me one!
it would slowly burn away the "bowl" of the pipe, but extremely slowly. there shouldn't be an open flame when you smoke if you're doing it right
