I thought I'd have a little break from tinkering about with LMMS and the usual fruity loops so I busted out my keyboard and mic, sung a little bit, pressed a few keys added some gratuitous echo, and... Well, I got a cover version of Mirror's edge, still alive. EDIT: (Don't bother DL'ing it, uploaded it to soundcloud.) http://soundcloud.com/bartonjames/still-alive-cover-2 It's a heavy WIP and it only covers the intro, so expect a few flaws here and there. But that being said, I'd still like a bit of C&C, for improvements sake. All done by ear, as usual.
It's way too WIP. I mean come on 9 seconds?
The sound quality was not that good and I also heard some rhythm problems ...

It's because of my crappy vocals. :P Unfortunatley, my voice isn't the most tuneful sound in the world and it's EXTREMLEY off key. This sabotages the rest of my song, but thankfully... They are a placeholder. I have access to a better singer but I wanna work out the instrumental before I worry about that. So far I feel it's close enough and I'm happy with it for what it is.
VOCALS?! The only 'vocals' I can hear is what sounds like a sampled humming in the background. If that is you singing, why not just use a sampled hum?
It's my voice which had the "echo" filter applied to it. First I recorded me humming. ... "AAAauuuuuhhhhh Au Auuuuhhh"! Then I applied the echo filter that comes with audacity with the delay setting set to 0.1 and the decay factor set to 0.4, then reversed the sound clip, applied echo twice this time at the same settings then reversed it again. As for why I didn't use sampled humming; Like I said my keyboard is old as hell and the synth vocals are terrible. I plan to do a rerecording of the whole song soon taking careful precautions not to get feedback from the headphones feeding into the microphone. I hope this will deal with the low quality sound.
I meant the piano, it seems too fast
Oh? I didn't notice that... Well, like I said, I'm going to give this a re-record soon. :\ I really cant believe I didn't notice that. Rated informative!
