It didn't sway me in the slightest to do that achievement again.
I did it twice.

Believe this or not, but I did it on my first try, on Easy. With bots.
Before I started the finale, I put the gnome right where the helicopter would pick me up. After the 2nd tank battle, he was still there.
Though getting him to the final map was the hard part. Especially the coaster one.
I had a pretty skilled team for this achievement. We rescued him on expert the day after the game was released.

This is the best achievement ever invented.

Same here except on normal, hardest part was freeing him in the first place. I think the AI director liked me that day :P
