It comes after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to a loan deal with Ukraine worth $14-18bn. The US Congress also passed legislation on Thursday backing a $1bn loan guarantee for Ukraine. ... One hundred countries voted in favour of approving a UN General Assembly resolution declaring the Crimean referendum on 16 March illegal and affirming Ukraine's territorial integrity. Eleven nations voted against, with 58 abstentions. "This support has come from all corners of the world which shows that this (is) not only a regional matter but a global one,'' Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsia told reporters after the vote.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/27/us-ukraine-crisis-un-idUSBREA2Q1GA20140327
The General Assembly resolution echoes a text Moscow vetoed earlier this month in the Security Council. The approved declaration dismisses Crimea's vote as "having no validity, (and) cannot form the basis for any alteration of the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or of the City of Sevastopol." The resolution, which does not mention Russia by name, says the General Assembly "calls upon all States, international organizations and specialized agencies not to recognize any alteration of the status" of Crimea and Sevastopol.
If I were Putin I wouldn't pick up my post for a couple weeks
Hold up there, this might move onto the next level of angry UN'ness: Angry Phone Calls.
Am I the only one that doesn't get the jabs the UN get all the time.
Welp. Now the world comes to take Crimea back for Ukraine, and Putin is put in a spot. Comply and be seen as weak, or refuse and get Russia's economy further dismantled and potentially start WW3. There's also the issue of the Ukrainian naval vessels, defectors, angry nationalists, etc, etc, etc. This situation is fucked, honestly.
That's what I call being putin your place. Anyways not like the UN can do anything to so many members so little interest in real intervention.

Maybe, just maybe, a nuclear war, but not WW3.

I'm betting he'll be more willing to risk World War III than to take a humble pie to the face and apologize for being an imperialistic shithead.
Oh that's ok then
World war implies a ton of countries worldwide, not half the world curb stomping a single one before the world explodes.
Am I the only one that doesn't get the jabs the UN get all the time.
No you aren't, I just find them amusing even though I disagree that all the UN does is send letters.
