New album Hurley out 9/14/10 on Epitaph Records. That is all. Now back to your previously scheduled Facebook browsing.
So according to Weezer's twitter feed, they're slated to release a new album this September called Hurley and after releasing the train wreck that was Ratitiude you might be asking yourself why you should care about this new release? Well as you can read, Weezer has jumped labels and signed to Epitaph, an independent music label, who are more for promoting artistic freedom so this could possible signal a return to Weezer's Blue/Pinkerton style and that might very well make me piss my pants. However, there is plenty of reason for everyone to question whether or not this album will be successful, because after the disaster that was Make Believe and Ratitude a person begins to wonder if the band hasn't gone to complete shit. Then there's the Rivers Cuomo, the vocals and lead guitarist for Weezer appearing on B.o.B.'s debut album on, in my opinion, the worst track. You're 40 Rivers, I don't very much care for you singing about partying with rap stars, this brings up another question. Rivers is a married, successful, millionaire being featured on hip-hop pop tracks, can he really go back to his iconic emo style and pull it off successfully? http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2010-8-5-weezer-signs-to-epitaph-for-new-album-hurley http://www.weezer.com/ Here's a link to a song they played for the children's show Yo Gabba Gabba! According to Rivers it's going to be one of the tracks on Hurley. http://vodpod.com/watch/3210159-weezer-talks-about-their-friends-on-yo-gabba-gabba Well, I'm not too much of a fan of this single, but I really really really hope this album isn't a steaming pile of shit like Ratitude. I'm not hoping for a Pinkerton, because they'll never produce an album with the quality of Pinkerton ever again, but if I can get a Blue Album Numero Dos I'll be happy. Weezer has always been in an awkward place throughout my life, Blue skyrocketed my love of music and Pinkerton is a masterpiece, but after Maladroit I lost hope, then Rivers released his home recordings and they were pretty nice. However this shit with B.o.B disappoints, I could've forgiven him if it was a half-way decent track. tl;dr New Weezer album, likely shit, but deep inside I want Pinkerton 2 Here's the new album cover: Here's the track listing:

"Memories"
"Ruling Me"
"Trainwrecks"
"Unspoken"
"Where’s My Sex?"
"Run Away"
"Hang On"
"Smart Girls"
"Brave New World"
"Time Flies"
Weezer - Memories
I liked that Yo Gabba Gabba song actually. The lyrics were retarded but the weird off-key guitar solo was promising. There's a little bit of hope for this record now that they're on a "punk" label but by now I know better than to expect anything good.

Rivers has been releasing disappointment after disappointment, but now that he's extremely rich he doesn't need to keep releasing awful stuff because he has a lot of financial security.
That's true but I don't think money was the only reason he was making terrible music. He could have remade Pinkerton any number of times and there's just as many, if not more people, that would eat that shit up.
Maybe he's evil? I don't know.
the lyrics are wretched. i mean, insects? really?
you realize that was for a children's show, don't you? [editline]05:17PM[/editline] regardless I think the red album was pretty good (excluding the singles) as well as raditude. From what I've heard with Rivers on sound opinions, he certainly has the attitude that could bring them back to their roots, but he has it stuck in his head that he needs to get his music out to a bigger audience. I think him going onto an indie label both shows that his mindset has changed in that regard, and also means we won't have to hear any more garbage forced singles ala Pork and Beans.
you realize that was for a children's show, don't you?
it's going on the album.
it's going on the album.
it's a joke song then? that's got to be a first, huh lol
What the hell
I can't say I like Memories that much. I liked Pork and Beans when it first came out but it became overplayed so I hated it. I never liked "If You're Wondering if I Want You To..." at all either. What's going on, Weezer? I hope the rest of the new album sucks less. The Red Album made me think they had a chance at returning to what they were good at, but I guess not.
I like the song but that album cover is stupid.
after Raditude I'm not looking forward to this
I lol'd so freaking hard at the album cover
Updated OP with album cover, I lol'ed hard at it too.
Red Album was good, Raditude really blew sack, hopefully they realized that and will fix it in Hurley. Loving the name and the wordless cover though. Memories is a decent song, but I just hope it doesn't pull a "I Want You To"
I heard someone say on Reddit that Weezer's philosophy with Make Believe was to put out a terrible record and see how it sells. When it sold a lot, they kept making worse albums, trying to make people recognize shit when they hear it. It hasn't happened yet.
If that's true then why have they been sucking since the green album?
Maladroit was great Red Album was good Raditude was decent
Raditude was decent
The highest of all blasphemies. Also I kinda' like this new track, it feels like old Weezer
Also I kinda' like this new track, it feels like old Weezer
I think there was a little too much overdone in it to sound like classic Weezer, I'm thinking more towards like Perfect Situation-type of song. It's definitely in the right direction.
It's like new Weezer trying to be old Weezer. Which is good enough for me.
just pre-ordered that shit didn't even buy red album and raditude because the singles sucked so much, but memories sounds pretty good recorded and even better live. weezer live owned
Please make it be better than the red album.
fuck off and just release pinkerton deluxe already. by the way, raditude was a pretty good album. magic was a pretty cool song too, thanks to B.O.B's rapping.

Anything weezer made after pinkerton is...inconsistent, to put it in the lightest possible terms
I thought it was pretty consistently mediocre.
Or consistently terrible
