• Could anyone suggest some rap music?

Rap is probably my least favorite genre of music just because it's over hyped and its usually all about "fuck bitches get money" and how they do drugs everyday. Honestly I don't care. The music itself isn't that bad if only I didn't speak english it might be decent. But I'm trying to be open to more music... so my point is can anyone maybe tell me some good raps songs that aren't like that, maybe with some lyrics that actually mean something. I'm not going to be too picky, I'd just really like to hear some good rap if it exists... On a side note my favorite rap so far (and by favorite I mean actually slightly enjoyable to listen to) is Eminem. It's pretty good. Even though some of it's like I said he does it better in my opinion and is actually talented unlike some others, his raps actually have some meaning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The only sort of music from that genre that I like is Ice Cube, Eminem and Kanye West. Though some good beats are featured in songs such as Whatever You Like by T.I. but that's really as far as I go
Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, no guns bitches n bling there
I really don't see why everyone here seems to have an aversion to bitches, guns, and bling.
I really don't see why everyone here seems to have an aversion to bitches, guns, and bling.
Same. You eliminate bitches, guns, and bling and you eliminate one of the best groups in hip-hop history.
KiD CuDi, Eminem, Kanye West.
Same. You eliminate bitches, guns, and bling and you eliminate one of the best groups in hip-hop history.
not just that you're eliminating just about every MC ever. Hip-hop is all about self promotion and self empowerment
Gorilla Zoe is a very good rapper as well.
Skrein.
Lupe Fiasco. Buy either of his albums. More notably The Coolest.

Jedi Mind Tricks
^^^ This isn't 'post what you like to listen to.' It's 'suggest music based on his criteria.' Jedi Mind Tricks (recently) and AOTP, albeit dope, contains tons of violence. You don't like 'Fuck bitches, get money' eh? You want meaning, and you like Eminem. Then you will like Aesop Rock, Asher Roth, Atmosphere, Cage, Copywrite, Sage Francis and Sole. If you didn't say Eminem, I would say Blu & Exile - Below The Heavens. De La Soul, Slum Village, Pharcyde, (old) Outkast, Binary Star, and etc. "I'm sick of bitches shakin' asses I'm sick of talkin' about blunts, Sick of Versace glasses, Sick of slang, Sick of half-ass awards shows, Sick of name brand clothes. Sick of R&B bitches over bullshit tracks, Cocaine and crack Which brings sickness to blacks, Sick of swoll' head rappers With their sicker-than raps Clappers and gats Makin' the whole sick world collapse"
The Pharcyde: Tribe Called Quest: Public Enemy: Misc. songs: [editline]09:04PM[/editline] Here's some tracks off of Illmatic by Nas: (my favorite from the album) [editline]09:06PM[/editline] just so you know this is mostly old hip-hop (which is IMO the best kind of hip-hop)
A Tribe Called Quest
Totally missed them.
Wu-Tang Clan.
oh god yes Clan in da front

If you want something other than fuck bitches get money go old school Here's express yourself by nwa Also I'd recommend 2pac. pretty much all his stuff is meaningful
I'm not one who likes rap much (I actually hate it), but I like some of the stuff that Aesop Rock and Cool Calm Pete make.
De La Soul, J Dilla, Nas, Slick Rick, Heltah Skeltah, Sean Price, Dr. Dre, Boot Camp Clik, Gangstarr, the list goes on and on.
Macklemore has some songs you might like.
