[sp]so could can fuck like rabbits then die a miserable painful death[/sp] holy shit that kid suddenly took it up a notch
love how in the (is it called the thumbnail?) there's a $100 at the front and a bunch of $1's at the back i mean, yeah it makes sense why it'd be like that, cos all $100's would be crazy, but I find it amusing regardless
She is correct that aid is harmful to developing countries. A large amount is siphoned away into corruption, and it harms the development of effective bureacratic and economic structures through its undermining of economic incentives and large encouragement for further corruption, and large charities are often very inefficient. But she gets sidetracked in a large amount of the video in certain parts: a) The population growth bit is pretty much bollocks. Population growth isn't solved by killing off more young children, it is solved by economic development. This belief is simply economically inept and ignore the realities of population growth. See more on Malthus here: http://www.standpointmag.co.uk/text-january-february-2016-matt-ridley-long-shadow-of-malthus? and on food specifically, http://capx.co/we-are-still-proving-malthus-and-the-social-darwinists-wrong/ b) The reason we are helping these countries stems from two reasons. Firstly, as was pointed out to me by a friend, we give aid to expand our influence abroad. And, secondly, we give aid as a result of colonial guilt. We believe that our actions have economically harmed Africa and as such we pay a kind of 'reparations' in the form of aid. She needs to address this argument directly instead of doing a rather pathetic 'tough love' argument. The reason why aid isn't a good form of 'reparations' for our actions is that it isn't what African countries need. African countries need more effective governments, bureaucracies and economies. This can be aided through firstly not sending economic aid (which undermines these structures) but also through encouraging the development of these kinds of structures. c) She ignores the political arguments for aid and doesn't address the fact that the US/UK etc. ending aid may encourage further Chinese/Russian expansion. d) US debt is currently not a huge problem. It is unnecessary spending but she's just trying to scare with big number over the debt, ignoring debt to GDP ratios.
Could have used a less grating voice for the video but in any case I half-agree spend your money on yourself, family & friends. Don't waste it on those useless companies that probably take a share of the sum anyway. But at the end of the day whatever, let people do what they want I don't care.
I think she brings up some good points, but the overall callous tone of the video puts me off of it. I do think supporting infrastructure is a good idea. I remember a person on the street asking me to donate to build schools in Africa, and I couldn't help but think, "Where's the schools for Detroit? What about donating to support education in the country I live in?" Not saying Africa shouldn't have schools, but that the money gets lost in corruption.
Jesus, what a shit channel. What the fuck is this video supposed to be? Here's literally the only source for it, too! http://chersonandmolschky.com/2015/08/21/same-sex-relations-facts-people/ It's bad. It's really bad. There's a mountain of stupid beyond that link, and holy fucking damn, is it nigh impossible to slog through. There's shit about "the gay agenda," nonsensically bizarre statements, like the average gay man somehow having literally hundreds of sexual partners, often at once in equally bizarre orgies, apparently in a bathroom or whatever. It, in itself, is sourced by straight garbage sources - much like The Family Institute, or "The Gay Report," which, uh... yeah. The name themselves should be fair indicators of their quality. Now, of course, a lack of quality in citations is similar to this video - the UNICEF part is almost entirely made up, relying on bullshit sources like this, or this. Both are unbelievably dumb on their own - the second source is literally all about how vaccines are supposed to kill you, and the first talks about everything from bad about modern reproductive sciences and procedures, from stem cell research to contraception and even organ donation. So, we've got a channel that not only supports and listens to crazy shit on a regular basis, but uses it as talking points in their videos. Christ, the quality! Good job, folks.
damn, 76% of the world recieves some kind of US economic assistance. think how much more shitty the world would be without the "great satan"
"96 million people in America are unemployed." You what? Where are these numbers from? Edit: Probably from her ass, like the rest of the "facts".
"96 million people in America are unemployed." You what? Where are these numbers from?
Well, there are roughly 300 million people in america. When you consider the elderly, children, infants, the unemployable, and people who actually lost or cannot find a job, it doesn't seem that unreasonable of a number to me.
Seriously guys, how could you not tell this video was bullshit with that thumbnail? Jesus Christ that the most unironically racist thing I've seen all month

Well, they are all children...) http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/unemployment-rate
The number of unemployed persons, at 7.8 million, was essentially unchanged from December.
Just shows how much thought went into this video. Don't get me started on the other one posted in this thread. Just look at the sources.
What the fuck is this channel even?
Seriously guys, how could you not tell this video was bullshit with that thumbnail?
What the fuck is this channel even?
A huge pile of Shit.
This video is dumb but it raises some valid points. We can't continue throwing money at the third world hoping it will fix the problem, that's not how things work. Also, I am reminded of this scene from KOTOR 2:
foreign aid actually does have the capacity to do great damage to the countries it's thrown at. Especially dependency on the aid itself, and the damage it can cause to market economies.
I like Kiva personally
I just gave my money to my uncle who's part of médecins sans frontiêres. He's had guns pointed at him, been taken hostage and helped with births and broken bones all over Africa. Badass pacifist.
damn, 76% of the world recieves some kind of US economic assistance. think how much more shitty the world would be without the "great satan"
Debatable, considering economic assistance can come in a shitload of ways.
damn, 76% of the world recieves some kind of US economic assistance. think how much more shitty the world would be without the "great satan"
At the expense of sounding Cynical, foreign aid can be used as a powerful tool to control others as leverage, or to gain favor. But I guess we tried
The US unemployment rate as of now is about 5 percent of the population, meaning around 15 million people who are able, but cannot or won't find work. I'm wondering who she included in her 96 million number. That's like 1/3 of the United States. Does it include artists, college students, or homeless people?

She's pretty blunt isn't she? Pretty much agree. Countries can't become developed unless they can settle their own issues.
Shit video or not, there's a lot of truth to the horrendous waste and corruption that is foreign aid (see: unicef/invisible children/etc). There are organizations that do a good job though, would have been nice to mention those. Truth typically lies somewhere between the extreme arguments on both side, and this is definitely an extreme argument
You forgot that countries can't become developed unless other stronger, more advance countries stop dicking around in their affairs, too. Invasion of Iraq ring a ding?
Iraqs one of those countries that shouldn't even exist anyways. The borders were arbitrary when they were made by the Ottomans centuries ago and when it was made a country by the Europeans.
at first, i thought the videos were being narrated by some text-to-speech device
