Really dude, got my hopes up for nothing :tired:
wtf
"6 on 6, it's a lot of players" yeah whatever
Oh geez, it's exactly like Overwatch except with mounts and on bigger maps, what the fuck Hi-Rez, what the fuck.
Are they completely unable of doing something without aping the competition?
Oh yeah, there's some Titanfall in it too. Sure, why not.
The thumbnail confused me for a second because it looked exactly like overwatch
3:40, this idea has been in TF2 for 7 years now. It really bugs me when people describe their stolen ideas as something completely new and groundbreaking. But it's Hi-Rez, so I'm not really surprised.

This game is a fucking Frankenstein's monster. The only thing that is even remotely fresh is a mount. Then again it's kinda like Battlefield's vehicles soooo, yeah...

Can't wait for them to leave it out to rot and go right back to Smite
The setting is so generic but I can't actually name it. It started with Torchllight I think where it was actually refreshing and new. Like that loosely steam/dieselpunk theme mixed with scifi elements, that makes the whole game as generic as every other title in play. I blame League of Legends and Dota for mixing all kinds of *whatever*punks into one bland mess.

That's how I feel about the genre, thought I'd say it was already pretty meh even in Torchlight.
Whelp more garbage. That should teach me to hope for a Global Agenda 2.
Wow shit op thanks. Your avatar is very fitting to explain you.
unreleased cartoon classbased team shooter #4
RIP Tribes Ascend
You're a fucking asshole. :(
Before Hi-Rez ruined/ignored/pay2win'd the SHIT outta Tribes: Ascend; it was my all-time favourite game. I Love the Tribes IP. ALL... *THREE* of them. (We don't talk about Vengeance...)
Everybody wants to make a TF2 clone now how original. I really hate that this is the new gaming fad
Remember how TF2 got so visually busy some years after release?
This game isn't even finished yet and you already have no idea what the fuck is going on because of constant particle effects and lasers, same thing bugged me about Evolve and every single MOBA ever.

It's like Hoarders. The gamers are all miserable from the company's decisions and are trying to get the company out of it, but Hi-res just becomes an animal from the mention of selling their unused licences.

After playing the game for a while, you learn to sift through all the particles and flashy spells/explosions.
Can we have Tribes back please?
You guys have your own opinions, but I really don't think Hi-Rez deserves as much hate as they receive. I've enjoyed every game they've put out, whether it failed or not.

That sweet, succulent justice
It looks really weightless and bland despite being so colorful and busy. There's already overwatch and gigantic, we don't really need more of this sort of thing.
I'm honestly surprised Hi-Rez is going to work on another game when Smite is getting as big as it is. At least they're not like Riot where they have a huge team and focus all of their resources on one lousy game.
I'm really getting sick of this cartoony wacky proportions futuristic art direction, I can't think of a game that had this art direction and didn't look like something ugly marketed to kids.
It's really funny you would say that despite having something marketed to kids in your avatar. As if having a cartoony aesthetic is bad.
Remember when Hi-Rez made good games?
I mean holy shit, this game looks like such a jumbled mess that it has no real identity and is just trying to leech as many audiences as possible.

Overwatch is being made by Blizzard, so you know it's going to be high quality. It has a futuristic setting with fantasy stylings.
Gigantic looks very charming, and from what I can tell, mixes up the standard gameplay compared to these other team based shooters.
Paladins, on the other hand: "It's all magic, but there's like, future tech stuff, but it's powered by magic."
"How does it work? What are the rules for how magic tech works?"
"...Magic."
It's just fusing fantasy stuff and future stuff with not even the bare minimum explanation. Hell, the video shows them fighting in medieval villages and such, and I get the distinct feeling it's not like other games where it's "this is a historic site", but rather "this is where people live". And they're all dressed like they would be in medieval times. Even the siege engine is an old wooden tower on wheels.
If you're going to say "it's fantasy, but in the future", at least make it look like Shadowrun or something, not "we got a time machine and gave guns and robots to confused peasants".
And the gameplay. I actually thought the card idea was cool, mixing deck building with a shooter. But 80% of the cards are just "do 25% more damage!", "50% chance of doing 50% more damage!" "Do more damage at lower health!" "Your gun range is increased!".
The "activation" cards are okay, but they're just a small portion. Mixing deck building and a shooter should be more like drawing weapons, items, environmental objects from a deck. Instead of ammo boxes and health kits, spread cards around the map where you draw another item. Smaller decks mean you have a steadier build, but larger ones give you a certain unpredictability and variety, letting you be more effective at the cost of needing more skill and depending on chance. They could change the card drawing algorithm so it always gives you a weapon if you don't have any, though.
but no, that would be interesting

I found this very stupid and inconsistent too. It seems like it just goes "lets throw in medieval but also robots but we need excuse for robots... magic" Some of the shit they showed looks downright futuristic while other shit looks medieval. It makes no sense beyond being a random mashup. Worst part is, it's not original what so ever and is very cheap in terms of aesthetics.
Like seriously, they're suing damn scifi lazerguns and rocket launchers and the only explanation is "magic". It has nothing to do with magic. There's a damn mech thing you'd expect to see in a year 2200 game. The fact that they try to justify it by claiming magic is ridiculous.
I doubt many people will be playing this for long. It's too much all over the place and has nothing unique about it.
I dunno, it just doesn't seem to have anything that makes me go "WOW, I really wanna play that". That cards system really doesn't look like something I wanna deal with, I prefer the call of duty style of just throwing your perks onto your classes and then forgetting they exist. Also lmao at them referring to world of warcraft, and then saying that 6 v 6 is big. World of warcraft pvp matches, on some maps, has 40 versus 40. The smallest maps have 10 vs 10 (arenas are usually 3 vs 3, but those are different last-team standing things)

It's not automatically bad, but lots of cartoony art-styles in games are just as generic as the art-styles of gray-brown military shooters.
I mean, if you're going to talk about his avatar. MLP's animation was very fluid and expressive, and it fit the theming as well. (ofc im talking about the first two seasons, I haven't followed it since. Maybe its even better or worse idk)
