HOLY SHIT YES, WHAT A TAKE-DOWN!
What the backstory on this? why the heck would anyone attack a police station?
Why does the man in white shirt put his hand on the other man and stand there like that?
That was a tackle to make Terry Tate proud.
WEST COVINA, Calif. (KABC) -- A bat-wielding man was taken into custody Monday morning after he threatened civilians and bystanders at the West Covina Police Department.
Authorities said Christopher Rivas, 28, was arrested for alleged assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer. The incident began about 10:18 a.m.
Surveillance video shows the suspect striking the large glass windows of the station's front lobby repeatedly. Inside the lobby, there was panic. Three civilian women inside immediately ran and entered a secured area of the lobby.
"At this point, he was yelling, 'I'm coming in, I'm coming in,'" said Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department.
The suspect then walked to the doorway and continued swinging, slamming the open door several times.
What you don't see on the video is that as the suspect was standing outside the lobby, there was an officer at the doorway inside with a gun pointed at him. That's why he didn't move.
While the suspect was distracted, an officer ran up from behind and tackled him to the ground. Several other officers then helped the officer subdue and handcuff the suspect.
Rivas, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to a hospital for treatment. He was cited and released to the custody of the Los Angeles County Medical Center, police said.
What was his plan?
What was his plan?
Smashing that glass
I'd guess suicide by cop.
Smashing that glass
didnt seem like it tbh.
Smashing that glass
Didn't seem like he was swinging very hard, his knees weren't bent either.
If his plan really was to smash the glass, he did a shit job at it. Maybe he thought the station would be intimidated or something?
Damn son, that takedown even disarmed him.
I can't think of any reason why someone would do that unless they wanted to get killed and didn't have access to a firearm.
"come out come out little pi--UGGGHHH"

He got his back.
What was his plan?
maybe getting caught was a part of it?

This is actually part of police training. Notice how he had his other hand on his weapon.
It's a nonverbal way of communicating your presence to the person in front of you so that they don't move in front of you and accidentally get shot.
damn that was sick
What the fuck was he even attempting to do?

Crashing this pane.
Doesn't top the "sovereign citizens" that showed up at their local police station armed to the teeth with assault rifles to file an orderly complaint and were promptly arrested
For some reason I was surprised that the glass didnt get smashed, then I remembered its a police station and thats probably bullet proof glass. :v:
Great tackle, 10/10!
