10 years later and I'm glad the movie start with the end of the first one.
IT'S MOTHERFUCKING BOB ODENKIRK
I'M SO EXCITEDDDDDDD
The first one was great partly because it was made by people disgruntled with Disney who had something to prove and a chip on their shoulder. I'm a bit worried this may lack the same pissed off creative spark that made the first one so memorable since it tried so hard to impress.

to be fair it's probably the most exciting project at pixar to work on for fuckin years (not to say any of their films are good or bad, it's just got a lot more excitement and action surrounding it)
The colors are so VIVID

i mean yea on one hand sure, maybe. on the other tho this has Bob Odenkirk who kinda feels like he's gonna be the surprise villain here, and also Jonathan Banks in it (sadly he's not in the trailer tho). I am so down for this just from that alone.
The bit where Bob and Dash are working on math homework is the most relatable thing I've seen in a movie ever.
So nice to see these characters and this setting in glorious future cgi
I haven't seen the Incredibles in forever, are superhero powers really passed through genes in this universe? If so that makes a lot of questions about how the government made it essentially illegal to express yourself if you had certain genes. Hope the Incredibles 2 is great though, haven't really seen any Pixar stuff since Toy Story 3.
This is looking great! Love the little dude, but I'm praying Jack Jack doesn't take a huge spotlight in the movie.
All My Yes, I love how animated Jack-Jack is this Trailer, Can't wait for June.

i dont think super hero powers are banned entirely, but rather being a vigilante is illegal, and the government is controlling it by basically forcing supers into hiding and, while giving them nice houses and other assistance, if they're caught (like what happened in the middle of the film when bob hurt his boss) then they have to move again, erase memories, etc etc.

i think it's just that vigilantism is illegal and therefore anyone with superpowers have this stigma attached to them, so the government protects them in place of them not using their super powers. it's not illegal to be a super, it's just illegal to do anything regarding being a super, which is not that out of the ordinary (i mean this film universe is kinda what would happen if the 50s/60s continued on, fallout style)
Looks super promising so far.
Fucks sake it's getting to the point where you can identify every single strand of hair. Where every motion creates a fluid and realistic wrinkle in clothing and you can even see the fucking pores on their damn skin, and even the small fabrics of cloth on their shirts.
Like god damn animation is getting beautiful.

Wow I had no idea Patton Oswalt was the boss, also the redness on Bob's hand when he lets go of the doorknob is such a small detail that's great. I'd like a comic series or something to flesh out the world more, were supers considered celebrities, how did the public react, were heroes used in war etc. Also was memory modification shown or mentioned in the first movie? If so that raises questions again about the impact of stereotypical comic book advanced tech lol. I should see it again sometime.

i just watched a video on this exact subject. it talks about how basically supers were gods and celebrities, until multiple accidents happened back to back and supers were being sued left and right. the video also brings up that you can view a handful of super's files in the government on the dvd. you can find out about their personal issues, like one dude who drinks a bunch, one who's wreckless, or another person who was an ex convict. also, i found out that the act they used against the supers is called the "super relocation act," so while it's unlikely that the government is forcing supers to stop using their powers, it's apart of that act to keep them in secret. though it is interesting that in this new trailer, they're showing people reacting well to elastigirl. i guess since the ending of the first movie, supers are back in the sunlight again. maybe it's just one of things that goes back and forth in the government, where when a bunch of bad shit happens they stop supers, but when good things start happening again the public opinion goes lenient on them. honestly though, deep politics are interesting, but i think it might bog down the incredibles franchise, even in a spinoff. kinda like how the star wars prequels and their government talk kinda affects the series as a whole.
oh and that memory modification thing was literally a throwaway line in that scene i linked. i don't think it was ever mentioned again.

The babysitter that took care of Jack-Jack in the 'Jack-Jack Attack' bonus short witnessed his superpowers and later got her memories wiped.

Rick Dicker, the government guy Bob was talking to, used it on the babysitter in the Jack Attacks short after she admitted witnessing Jack going fucking ballistic. That's about it afaik.

Good video and thanks for showing me a new channel, I was going to ask if the public reacted (earlier when I said "how did the public react") to the relocation act with protests but the opposite was shown in the movie, shows how long it's been since I've seen it.

The government agent guy sticks a plunger on her head to make her forget the baby has powers.
elastigirl is the og animated milf
Oh we just straight up talking about milfs in cartoons aimed at children are we. That's what we're fucking doing? We're gonna list a bunch of hot older women from fucking cartoons.
The aunt from Big Hero 6 is really cute.
Oh man, this is looking promising so far.
I really dig Helen's new solo Elastigirl outfit, also the bike.
Also little thing i noticed that can probably be spoilery?
[sp]I have a dumb prediction that Evelyn is the major antagonist out of the fact that her name is likely a pun on "Evil Endeavor". I'm likely not to the first to notice, right?[/sp]
The only thing I'm not totally sold on is the Elastigirl focus, just because it'd feel like a bit of a letdown if she's the only one who gets 90% of the superhero action stuff while everyone else has wacky parent/kid times at home. Stuff like the 100 Yard Dash sequence in the first one were some of the best scenes.
Then again, this is literally the first story trailer and Brad Bird has always said he'd only ever make a sequel if he came up with an idea worthy of making a sequel for. I trust Brad Bird, this is gonna be awesome.

I can understand why they went that direction, because they did the same thing with Mr Incredible/Bob in the first movie where he went to the island and did his own thing for a bit, they're now letting Helen in on some of that

honestly disney's trailers always worry me, because they have a tendency to focus on the most marketable moments in the films, rather than the more interesting stuff like the 100 mile dash scene. i mean, the trailer for the incredibles focused pretty much only on the first act of the film rather than the acts 2 or 3, and lacked the subplot with dash, violet, and elastigirl going after bob.

it'll be hard to have a scene like 100 mile dash though, since that scene was necessary since dash wasn't a fully developed character yet (same with violet) so that was a breakthrough for their characters since they've now discovered how to use their powers effectively. i think this'll be more of a breakthrough for the kids in their personalities, since they're discovering how they make sense in the world, both with their powers and cause, you know they're kids and still growing up. i think there's a lot of room for the kids to continue developing, i just think it might be a little more personal rather than through their powers.
I guess it just came from those preliminary plot details where they literally explained it as "it's like the first one, but now Helen is the one who has an adventure!" and I know there's gonna be more to it, it's Brad Bird and Pixar, but it's still easy to read that as a red flag considering it's been a decade and I don't think anyone expected that a sequel after this long would end up doing the Back to the Future 2 "it picks up the second the first one ended" bit (and even moreso with the "now the character dynamics are swapped and it's the mom who gets to reclaim her youth while dad stays home" thing).
I remember a thread on /co/ a while back where everyone discussed that incredible bit of world building they hid in the DVD special features (specifically about how there's a hero named Gamma Jack who all but outright states that he sleeps with his hot female nemeses before killing them for the government):

A lot of people were speculating a sequel that takes place after a time-skip where Gamma Jack ends up re-emerging as a villain (since his file describes him as a megalomaniac who views supers as a superior race). I even drafted up a potential storyline; it was all basically just people swapping fan-fic ideas, but it was still fun as hell :v:
If anyone here hasn't seen that special feature before, totally give it a watch, it really makes you respect the amount of thought and care that they put into the world-building for the first movie.
