Hacking group “OurMine“—known for penetrating into the digital accounts of prominent celebrities, technologists, and venture capitalists—reportedly breached BuzzFeed News, on Wednesday, possibly in retaliation of a story that unmasked one of the members of the secretive group.
Hackers deliberately destroyed and deleted a number of BuzzfeedNews articles & official reports. The group changed the headlines of several BuzzFeed stories to read:
“HACKED BY OURMINE-OURMINE.ORG”
They also replaced the body with a message declaring:
“HACKED BY OURMINE TEAM, DON’T SHARE FAKE NEWS ABOUT US AGAIN, WE HAVE YOUR DATABASE. NEXT TIME IT WILL BE PUBLIC. DON’T F[***] WITH OURMINE AGAIN.”

Good. :v:
what is even the point of censoring swears if you do such an absolute shit job of it
As much as I don't like Buzzfeed, I hope they expose every member of this group.
Reminds me of a mission in Hacknet where you hack a news website for writing a bad article about a hacker group.
Remember people, Buzzfeed != Buzzfeed News
Former is internet content dump, latter is a news org sharing more in character with the likes of CNN etc. than Buzzfeed.
Still is a very shitty source as far as credibility and ethics go.

I'd much rather hope that ourmine exposes a lot of the injustices going on behind the scenes nowadays.

People actually take buzzfeed seriously like they would the news.
I would say that this site is a danger to our social condition via misinformation and deserves everything it gets in this regard.
BuzzFeed is literally divided at a corporate level into News and Entertainment divisions. BuzzFeed News has done a lot of important reporting in this election; I'm pretty sure they were the first to uncover the fact that Trump said he supported the Iraq War in 2002. That's why CNN poached half of their team the other day.
