Guys guys... java just updated
So how long until the next ex-
Never mind.
OHH. Just the final version of 4.0, I thought it was the final version ever.
I feel better now.

As if working on assignments was distracting enough as it was. A new Ribbon-like interface would have been nice.
[editline]Unity[/editline]
Better idea: Unity launcher. Instead of having a single icon only for the main menu or a several icons for the different programs, why not give the launcher a menu of what to run by right clicking it?
Is this really that hard to implement? Even I could do that.

I like how in office its just one simple colour, I don't think you need any more distractions in word processing programs
My quest to inform people that OpenOffice isn't the only free suite out there continues.
I don't get why this is better. When I installed Linux it felt like using some default shit that they give you until you use OpenOffice.
I love libreoffice
doesn't it have an autoupdate feature or something?
doesn't it have an autoupdate feature or something?
Nope. It has a feature that tells you there's an update.
You have to download and install it yourself.
AFAIK after OpenOffice was bought by Oracle some/all the devs went and made LibreOffice. Correct me if I'm wrong.
AFAIK after OpenOffice was bought by Oracle some/all the devs went and made LibreOffice. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct.
I can't even recall the amount of shit I had to go through when I had to use calc and writer for work. I don't know how anyone could admire this piece of shit 'suite' of programs. They can't even get line formatting correct without a copius amount of work and even then they have a chance to reformat once saved. I wouldn't wish the hell that is trying to make a spreadsheet or pamphlet in these programs on the people I hate most.
The devs of OpenOffice (rightfully) feared that the new owner, Oracle, would shut down the project and scrap it. They took the program, renamed it as they couldn't take the name with them, and left to make a new office suite that wouldn't be threatened.
Holy shit, all this time I thought Oracle renamed OpenOffice to LibreOffice after buying it. Guess I should install LibreOffice now.
microsoft shills please leave.
as soon as im uncapped im updating and upgrading.

You know what's even worse? Typing that on a Playstation.
I use Libreoffice but there are so many little absolutely infuriating problems which make me miserable
And I just wish they'd get rid of java but I don't think that's likely to happen in my lifetime.

It can be customized to look a whole lot better.

This is the result of changing the background color and disabling a few toolbars.

you realise it literally is a fork of OpenOffice, right?
you realise it literally is a fork of OpenOffice, right?
If I knew that why would I be asking?
Wait what do you mean it's a fork?
but guys everything is free
Now for this to get onto Android...

At one point there was just OpenOffice. Then Oracle bought the name and continued their development of it. Since the source code was open source however, the original OO devs made their own copy (a fork) of the code and began developing under the LibreOffice name.
Oh FYI, the portable version of this is up

How long ago was this? LibreOffice and OpenOffice used to have trouble with formatting, but they are a lot better about it now. The only real problems that remain are importing and exporting MS Office formats (.doc, .docx, and so on).

Yeah, my problems are mostly with importing and exporting MS Office templates. There are a couple of options in formatting that don't get saved or loaded for whatever reason, last I checked.
