Waaait, I thought [sp]Angelos died at the end of Retribution?[/sp]
I'm very happy to get Dawn of War III with these new features but... What the fuck did they do with [sp]Gabriel Angelos[/sp]? Him not being voiced by Paul Dobson is a KILLER for me. He was soooo epic!
Waaait, I thought [sp]Angelos died at the end of Retribution?[/sp]
[sp] In the canon Space Marine ending, he recovered and was promoted to Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens.[/sp]
first ninja'd
cinematic 15 fps
Compared to the teaser this is entirely underwhelming. It's bright and colorful and looks -kinda- like a mobile game minus the density of units. Also why is the FPS in the trailer all jacked up?
This looks horrible, what the fuck is with the cartoony graphics? It doesn't give off that grim atmosphere at all. Dow1 did it best, Dow 2 was decent. This is just bad.
i think it looked like man of steel. a celebration of excess. just a bunch of bad noise and effects everywhere. it looked like a mess overall. and it all felt so light. where was the weight? the imperial knight looked like it weighed 5 kilos at most and the weapon sounds were fucking terrible. man im just gonna say it: dawn of war 2 did visuals and sound fucking perfectly. [editline]14th June 2016[/editline] well okay maybe not the visuals perfectly, but damn good. but the audio? top ploughin notch i tell you what.
What's with it being at friggin' 10fps?
What's with it being at friggin' 10fps?
30 FPS is cinematic. That means 10 FPS is real life.
Not impressed, and sadly disappointed after that rad trailer. Suppose it is pre-alpha though.
the graphics are better than the first dawn of war i... guess??
all i see is you guys bitching about the graphics, i see your priorities are in check. It's not very uncommon now to go for visual clarity over graphical fidelity with that in mind the game looks fine and it's a good thing because there will be a ton of units you need to micro
I remember when people would talk about gameplay over graphics, now thats all people complain about. I think the gameplay itself looks great. it doesnt feel floaty and slow like dawn of war 2, full of people taking potshots at eachother followed by running away at low health. everything looked great, easy to recognize, easy to follow. it was obvious that it was just some heavily scripted first campaign mission, but outside of that it looks nice. I dont mind a lack of grittiness because the tabletop doesnt look gritty at all. dawn of war 2 ran like shit with a lot of units on screen and it doesnt feel like too much of a graphical downgrade, just a 're-imagining.'
Welp that's disappointing [editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
I remember when people would talk about gameplay over graphics, now thats all people complain about. well its a good thing these graphics dont look like they're from the last decade at all, or from a mobile game. cartoony styling doesnt mean its supposed to be on a fucking ipad.
well its a good thing these graphics dont look like they're from the last decade at all, or from a mobile game. cartoony styling doesnt mean its supposed to be on a fucking ipad.
Nah they totally look like mobile graphics, they're really bad all things considered. And that lovely 10FPS too
so tf2 and overwatch look like mobile games?
TF2 and Overwatch fit the artstyle. A Warhammer game, totally not
so tf2 and overwatch look like mobile games?
Those games look good, this doesn't.
how so? are the tabletop miniatures against the artstyle as well? [t]https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99120101153_StartCollectingSpaceMarines01.jpg[/t] because this looks really dark and gritty. no, it looks cartoony as shit. a warhammer game can look cartoony and still look good, but people arent going to go past it not having enough brown and grey filters.
graphics are a second thought as long as the gameplay is good then it's good. hoepfully they optimize dow3 though because coh2 really didn't run well. I personally would have liked a better implemented small scale game like coh but i have no problems with larger scale if it plays well. I'm mostly just worried that it will be even more difficult to micro although with the larger squads I assume they will get rid of buildings and now cover is omni directional.

[editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
larger squads
Where?
Well good thing DoW III is an entirely new game and not part of a franchise with its own established art style fans have come to love and have a right to expect from a third instalment. [editline]14th June 2016[/editline] Where?
dawn of war 1 and 2 both have very different art directions. people actually complained a shitload when dow 2 footage was released because they thought it was too shiny and not dark and grim enough. its the same way with this but in an opposite direction. I admit that I would have preferred a dow 2-style game. but im not going to lose all interest in the game and compare it to a mobile game just because it doesnt have the exact artstyle that I want. and in terms of larger squads I think they're just talking about sheer squad count. even the early level battles that they showed had a shitload more squads than dow 2 does on max squad cap. in terms of comparing it to dow 1, I dunno. I didnt like 10 man marine squads at all simply because of the awful pathfinding, god those IG squads getting stuck everywhere...
I think the addition of color to the series looks dope, I like how it looks like the miniature game.
I want base building back.
Looks like it plays more like fucking starcraft or a MOBA than any of the prior DoWs.
I want base building back.
well its a good thing that base building is back. dont know how much you'll be doing as individual races since they've done nothing but show off space marines so far, but they have plenty of buildings.
the future of PC gaming is literally mobile gaming CIV VI and now this shit it looks too cartoonish and not nearly grim enough
I think they're trying to make it look more like the original figurines on the board instead of going for the overdone super grimdark shtick that every other video game adaptation is trying to accomplish. Even the terrain looks more like the flat 2D pictures that would be seen on a tabletop strategy game.
I'm sorry, I loved Dawn of War, Dawn of War 2, Space Marine, and all the expansions, but this looks god awful in comparison.
