Looks really nice, actually
the light-matching is fantastic just needed work on matching camera motion
-snip nevermind lol-
The Strider could have used some more work
The Strider could have used some more work
No, I think it's actually doing the moonwalk.
Seeing a Strider in real life would be seriously interesting.
the light matching is impressive but most of the compositing and match-moving is just outright bad
Were all of these CG models? The Combine Elite soldiers looked kind of realistic, but the Metrocop was just jarring. I know a lot of people have a small budget to work on, but it would just look better to put together a couple costumes.

My only real complaints were the fact the Combine Elite standing outside the house was jittering up and down pretty noticeably, and the Strider was sliding forward as it walked. Other than that, it was pretty impressive. I wonder how long it took him to put together.
The strider is skating, and any scene with a tree blowing in the wind destroyed the motion matching, but sweet jesus that lighting is perfect.
Obviously they couldn't do much about it but the way every thing was like it is now (no signs of invasion and destruction) just looked weird to me
Ah this brings back memories of that HDRI thread.
That gunship was disappointing as hell. Wanted to see the water ripple around when it got lower.
There was a Megathread on here years ago about Rendering HL2 models in photos using Real lighting.
There was a Megathread on here years ago about Rendering HL2 models in photos using Real lighting.
I think it might actually be the same guy that started it all back in 05.
The Strider could have used some more work
The helo could also use some water effects but they still look decent
some of the tracking was off, but the combine elite walking down the corridor with no reflection in any of the paintings was what really stood out to me :v:
My only complain is that the ambience and colour balancing is way too casual and unfitting. It doesn't fit the theme of HL2 at all.
Oh man, that scene when the Elite is walking through the house, I can totally see a 7 Hour War Movie when Earth wasn't a shithole.
Oh man, that scene when the Elite is walking through the house, I can totally see a 7 Hour War Movie when Earth wasn't a shithole.
Combine Elites didn't exist during the 7 Hour War.
That gunship was disappointing as hell. Wanted to see the water ripple around when it got lower.
Don't know how you can put forth all of this effort and then forget a major detail like that.
And that would be missing the entire point of the video.
Well, yeah, you got a point. I just have a hard-on for physical costumes and shit. Not gonna lie, one of the only things that didn't sit right with me in here was the Metro Cop, it just looked kind of jarring. The Elite looked great, though.
The tracking reminds me of the 3DS AR cards.
I'm kind of bothered that the visor isn't lit like it is in-game: [img_thumb]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/34108555553910957/3003173F4737541274A147186201B23C7AD059BF/[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/34108555553910720/38D9673F218B0AC611FFB2B978FD1A0091324ED6/[/img_thumb]
I think it might actually be the same guy that started it all back in 05.
It's the same guy, Nick Bertke.
Combine Elites didn't exist during the 7 Hour War.
When did they say that in HL2?
When did they say that in HL2?
All of the Combine infantry are technically humans, so they would have had no transhuman soldiers during the initial invasion. We can infer that the 7 Hour War was fought with Combine synths.

was that drone on 0:50 facing the wrong way round or was my entire (half)life a lie?
