If you've been following anything i've been saying recently about antimaterialism, chances are you've called me stupid because I'm calling for people to throw away everything they own This video accurately describes what I REALLY want. I don't want to get rid of private property. I want to get rid of the addiction we have to useless shit. story: http://www.vbs.tv/blog/the-real-crime-at-the-g-20
I came here expecting cops, riot gear, arrests, civil disobedience and beatings. Guess I should go to Newark.
"The things you own end up owning you", etc.
Yeah, it's messed up that everyone goes shopping for fun/therapy. I work in a store and it's pathetic how little willpower people have, no wonder debt is so rampant. I feel more free without stuff. I like the term "affluenza" .
Feel free to throw away all your "petty material possessions" I'll be keeping mine because I've the good sense to realize theres value in things so much as theres value in actions. Because clearly one crazy guy in down town Toronto accurately represents anyone who doesn't give a fuck about fitting through the eye of a needle.

[editline]09:36PM[/editline] Also proboards practice what you preach. If you call for everyone to throw away everything throw away your computer.
Pretty sure the mall closed on it's own because it didn't want to risk being damaged by riots or something. And this guy is totally overreacting.
Dear OP. please cease your foolish posts and threads. The only thing you accomplish by continuing is the diminishment of your reputation. Also, how does this video relate to your views that we should give up "useless shit."? I just see an enraged man, attempting to enter a mall. He's just causing a public disturbance in an attempt to attain some recognition. It's not about the stuff, it's about attention.
what are people even protesting at the g20 it seems piontless
Lot's of things.
what are people even protesting at the g20 it seems piontless
Globalization and the gigantic waste of taxpayer dollars on a meet-n-greet for the world leaders.
If I was the guy behind the camera I'd be shitting myself.
what are people even protesting at the g20 it seems piontless
You, on the other, hand find proper spelling and punctuation piontless [editline]04:44AM[/editline] :v:
Now this is what I call missing the point. Don't preach to people that buying like that is bad. Instead, you should foster it, encourage it, and feed into it. Feed off of the weakness of others, and grow rich. You see the difference between the rich company executives and the lowest common denominator and you choose to ignore it, to extinguish it. That's called being foolish.

This was already posted not long ago... Also, this guy is just one of the retarded protesters.
That isn't a healthy mindset for a civilized people.
Looking out for your own interest isn't healthy?
Looking out for your own interest isn't healthy?
If looking out for your own interests involves exploiting other people then yes.
Too bad the world isn't all happy sharey.
Too bad the world isn't all happy sharey.
Ya so we should fuck other people over for our own greed?

This is what happens when you live in a socialist country, tsk tsk.
Globalization and the gigantic waste of taxpayer dollars on a meet-n-greet for the world leaders.
Oh no not globalization! do you even know what globalization is? 99% of people protesting the G20 or the WTO don't even know what either of them do. Plus, anti-materialism and anti-globalization, while using a computer and a massive part of globalization to communicate your views? Good job proboards!

I'm just explaining. It's not materialist to own a computer. it's materialist to own a computer and never use it. I use this thing every day, for recreational and for informational use. I'm not against owning things, I'm against owning things you won't ever use.
