• Help me decide which project to work on

EDIT: My decision has been made. Thank you for your input. While the poll remains open, I will not be paying it any attention. The final votes, as far as I am concerned, were 29 for Final Legend, 110 for BitWar, 48 for Oblivion ports, 47 for Project Horizon, 12 for Starship Kypris, and 30 for Project Overture. OK, Facepunch. I've got a decision to make, and I've decided to let you make it. I've basically got too many projects that I want to do. Your job is to tell me which one you want done the most. I always have a bajillion projects in my head at once. I usually write up at least a plan, if I like the idea. I literally have shelves full of planned projects that will probably never be seriously started. Since my current project is draining me out quite a bit from working solely on it for the past six months, and I'm only about 5% done with it. In short, I'm in need of a change of pace. That's where you come in. I've taken the top five projects that I would like to do, and I've written a description of each. You get to pick. Or, at the very least, you get to advise me on this decision. For quite a few, the decision relies on finding a partner or team, so finding those people factors in more than how many people would like it done. So, without further ado, here are your five choices: Project #1: Final Legend This was planned as just a way for me to learn and practice animating 3d characters. Unfortunately, I planned it too ambitiously for me to do alone, so I shelved it. However, if I get some people to help me with it, it would be relatively doable. I've already found most of the resources needed. This would be a CGI crossover between two games, "The Legend of Zelda" and "Final Fantasy VII". Yes, I know, FP doesn't like FF. However, I'm deviating a bit from established canon, generally reducing the angst in favor of making everyone badass. And I mean everyone. I gave fucking Navi a fight scene. Trust me, this isn't going to be some whiny emo shit, or weaboo Japanophile wanking. This is the two greatest video game villains (as decided by several Internet polls) and their heroes in an epic fight. I literally planned this series around the fight scenes. I took every character from both series that I could put in, and calculated every possible fight permutation. After throwing out the more stupid ones, I made a plotline that would cause all those fight scenes. When I was writing it, I had two goals. First, I put in as many "holy shit" moments as possible. You know the moments I'm talking about. Andrew Ryan's chambers in Bioshock was a Holy Shit Moment. Iron Man revealing his identity at the end of the first movie was another Holy Shit Moment. Looking through my current script, I can find eight places that could be called Holy Shit Moments, if I pull them off right. The second goal was to cram as many references in as possible. The Oracles Duology. Crisis Core. The Zelda cartoon. Last Order. Soul Calibur II. Ergheiz. Even fan theories and hoaxes, like the Tetraforce theory, or the Overture of Sages. I did quite a bit of actual research when writing it. Of course, I also made sure that you could understand the plot with just brief knowledge of FF7 and Ocarina of Time, but really, how many people haven't played those games, or another installment in their respective series? Since both series are well-known for their iconic music, I also developed a soundtrack listing. Almost two hours of music, drawn from a dozen albums. The mandatory music for both games is there: the Zelda overworld theme, One-Winged Angel, etc. I also put in some less famous pieces: "The World's Enemy", "The Birth of a God", "Farewell Hyrule King", and "Dark Lord Ganon" stick out in my head. If you want me to do this one, though, I will be needing assistance. Not just voice actors, but animators and choreographers, as well. I could probably do it myself, but it would take months to do just one episode, and I've planned out a pentalogy. So, unless you want to wait three years to see the ending, I'll need some help. Vote for this one if you like either franchise, or frantic fight films. Project #2: BitWar This is a small multiplayer Source mod that I originally made as a high-school project. Unfortunately, changes to the SDK Base have made the existing code unusable. The gameplay was based on a simple premise: "It takes more than one player to kill someone". By having players constantly regenerate health at relatively fast rates, I made it extremely difficult for one player alone to get a kill. However, two players firing at the same person would have a much easier task. The graphics were very simple, almost placeholder-like. Models were flat-shaded and solid colors. Brushes used colored variants of dev textures. It basically made the graphics into purely gameplay-based assets. It was ugly, but it made target identification very easy. That's one part I would like to improve, actually. The story was pretty much only in the manual. Basically, the combat was representing "hacking" of computer systems. I used actually cracking terminology for the guns (ping flood, teardrop packet, etc), but that was about it. This one would probably take about a month to completely finish. The code would have to be redone, but I have the map sources and game design docs on a backup drive. I would really only need testers for this one. Maybe mappers. Just for the record, the high-school project won Best in Show at the Tech Expo. Although, considering the competition was a Donkey Kong remake, a Risk adaptation, and a bunch of "logic games" you would find in any 1st-year programming classroom, I'm not sure how impressive that is. Vote for this one if you like simple but entertaining video games. Project #3: Oblivion model ports This is one that I'm actually not too interested in, but I think many people would like. A while back, I ported a bunch of swords and stuff from Oblivion to GMod. I could easily resume doing that, if people really wanted it. As a further bonus, I could start porting certain ragdolls. I still can't get actual character faces, but I can use the base face mesh, and certain mods provided faces as models, not as Facegen settings. I could also do creature ragdolls. All I would need is someone to make the physmodels, since I suck at that. I can get them rigged just fine, I just cannot make a collision model that doesn't suck. If I get someone to do that one bit for me, I could do quite a bit of porting over. Vote for this one if you like GMod posing in medieval/fantasy settings. Project #4: "Project Horizon" Just a note: the codename deliberately has no bearing on the content. That defeats the whole purpose of a codename. Whenever I need a codename, I look at the Wikipedia article of the day, and choose a word from that. Thus, you get Project Overture, which has nothing to do with music, and Project Vithoba, which has nothing to do with Hinduism. "Project Horizon" is another video game. Right now, all I have are two strong concepts: Pokemon-like gameplay, and using computer parts as the 'mons. I have compiled an extensive list of computer parts, and I've calculated RPG-like stats for each. You would build a computer out of parts, and do battle using them. The list is very extensive, by the way. I've only done Intel desktop/server CPUs and nVidia desktop/workstation GPUs, and I already have over a thousand parts, ranging from an 8088 using an IBM MDA, to a Xeon MP X7560 hooked up to a Quadro Plex 2100 D4. Once I add in the mobile processors, and AMD/ATI, and all the minor companies like S3 and Matrox, there would easily be several thousand parts to choose from. And that's just for the x86-based architectures. Throw in ARM, SPARC, and PowerPC, and there will probably be twenty thousand parts. Good luck catching them all. The gameplay is pretty solid at this point, although I doubt I can explain it to you without using game design terms and flowcharts. Just imagine Pokemon gameplay, and you'll generally have it. If you secretly like playing Pokemon, but don't want to confess to playing a "kid game", this would be perfect for you. The story and setting are, right now, completely undecided. All I'm focused on right now is gameplay. The first release will be using curses-based graphics. DOS-mode text, for those of you with no knowledge of Unix-like libraries. Nonetheless, I have three ideas for the "metaphor" that allows gameplay based on PC components. The first would be the most abstracted, taking the names of computer parts and using them in a medieval-fantasy setting. The second would be a grimdark, cyberpunk retelling of computer-industry history, featuring well-known industry people like Steve Jobs (lawful neutral), Steve Ballmer (lawful evil), Richard Stallman (chaotic), Linus Torvalds (chaotic good) and Kevin Mitnick (chaotic evil). The third option would be to eliminate the metaphor, and set up a post-apocalyptic robot-only scavenger society. I really haven't decided yet. This would be my chance to practice pure game design. I'd let the artists here on FP do the art, probably in a pixel-art style. I'd let anybody make the music. I've got friends in several different indie bands that would love to help out. So, really, this would be as much your project as mine. Vote for this one if you're a massive computer nerd, or if you like RPGs. Project #5: Starship Kypris This is an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for two or three years. I want to make an interactive GMod webcomic. I've been working on-and-off on maps and storylines, I've been collecting models, I even coded a site for it. There's just one thing stopping me: I suck at GMod. Despite posing being the main reason I bought the game, I recognize that I suck at it. Nevertheless, I have enough work sunk into this that I'd like to do something with it. The concept has changed over time. A few things have remained constant: you are on a freighter starship, during an interstellar war. The player can die, and will restart the comic from the beginning. A few character ideas have stuck around: the undercover soldier, the bartender, the captain. The general story has fluctuated over time. The amount of science in the science-fiction has gone from "barely any" to "only a few things are actually impossible". The tone has varied from "cheerful" to "space-opera epic" to "horrifying sci-fi tragedy". Additional characters have been added: the traitor, the arms dealer, the assassin. I've been world-building this thing for two years, and I've also merged it with other sci-fi universes of mine from even older. I have multiple detailed species and cultures. I have eight gigs of models stored up for it. I've got a dozen custom maps in verying states of completion. I have enough storyline possibilities to last a lifetime. I have a unique language and alphabet, for crying out loud. I could probably keep this fictional 'verse going for the next century. If I could find someone to do the actual posing, I'd be good. I know, that sounds like I'm just avoiding the actual work, but trust me, I'd be doing as much as or more work than the person taking the pictures. Custom maps. Custom textures. Audience interaction would be less "Problem Sleuth", and more "Choose Your Own Adventure", making the dialogue- and plot-writing much more important a task. I'd be doing speech bubble layouts and postprocessing, as well, so I'm not "avoiding work" as much as I am "avoiding work I'm not good at". Vote for this one if you like relatively hard science fiction, or interactive storytelling. Project #6: Project Overture "What? Six projects? You only said five at the beginning!" Yes, yes I did. This is more of a "none-of-the-above" option. This is the secretive "current project" that's draining me out. No matter what you guys suggest, I will continue working on this, albeit at a much-reduced rate. Option 6 is "keep working on it, but put out a few side products, like short stories set in that universe, or maybe trailer-like movies. Maybe start a developer's blog, because it sounds interesting.". I've spoken in hushed tones about this, mainly in the Models/Skins section. This is a full-blown, commercial-release game, one in which every task is done by me. The coding. The models. The textures. The levels. The music. Everything but the voiceacting would be done by me. It would be, in essence, my resume for getting into the games industry. A major premise of this game is "Take the best ideas from Western and Eastern media, and combine them". As such, if you are a blind hater of anything remotely Japanese, you will not like this. However, if you realize that all forms and styles have some artistic merit, then you may enjoy it. The gameplay is, broadly speaking, a "Zelda clone". However, I'm completely revamping the combat system, focusing more on combos than button mashing, making it almost more like Street Fighter than Zelda. Likewise, I'm also reducing the emphasis on dungeons in favor of more emphasis on the boss fights. I'd call it 30% Zelda, 20% Metroid/Castlevania, 20% God of War, 20% Shadow of the Colossus, and 10% Street Fighter. Throw in a bit of German Expressionism, some East Asian pop art, some classical architecture, and maybe some heavy metal influences, and you've got the recipe I'm working from. As to the story, I'm not ready to reveal that yet. Partly because I'm still trying to figure out one of the main characters, partly because I don't want to spoil any of the major twists, and partly because I don't want to turn anyone off this by giving a too-brief description that makes it sound like a pile of cliches. Just wait for my next 2500-word thread to see that. Vote for this one if you like complex stories that sometimes border on the metafictional, since that's all you'll really see of this project for the next year. If you like stories with extremely deep symbolism, this is for you. On the other hand, if the only story you need is "this is the bad guy, here's a sword, go kill a motherfucker", wait until release to start following this. PS: I realize questions like this are usually put in Fast Threads. However, since my current word count is 2466, I think this thread is about as fast as Valve's development cycle. So, those are the options, Facepunch. I'll be making the decision based on three things: the poll results, comments, and what assistance offers I get. So get cracking. I'll announce a decision by Friday, giving you more than enough time to have a rational debate.
Finish BitWar so I can play it.
As of now, it looks like BitWar is winning the poll. I figured I ought to give a better description of it, as I did not originally expect that much interest in it. I couldn't find any full-size screenshots, but I did find the user manual. It's a bit behind the final design, but it covers a lot of it. The only thing it's missing is the weapon upgrade system. I'm just giving you an idea of what the old version was like. [editline]03:15PM[/editline] Not to nag or anything, but could people start leaving comments? I'd like to know WHY people are voting the way they are.
Finish BitWar so I can play it.
Im with Jantz. Bitwar looks the most promising.
Im with Jantz. Bitwar looks the most promising.
I'm somewhat surprised that BitWar is the most popular. I had sorted the ideas in what I expected to be descending order, but apparently, fan films aren't as popular as I thought. I was looking through the old documents folder I had for this game. One of the things I found was the script for the in-game commentary. It never got recorded, but one line made me laugh a bit. I'll let you figure out the context:
The lesson, in short, is that all strangers are jerks. If you make a mod, be sure to test it with a bunch of total jerks. If it's still fun to play with them, it will be awesome with people you actually like.
OK, I've poked through my BitWar archives a bit more. I've found thirteen maps in varying states of completion. Nine are essentially completed, two need just a few hours work and a recompile, and the last two need some major work and testing. So, I'm essentially set for maps for that project. One part of BitWar that I forgot I even had was what I called the "Classic Map Pack", a collection of iconic map remakes in a low-detail style, that I planned to release as open-source, to jumpstart other people's mods. This included remakes of 2fort (Team Fortress), Dust (Counter-Strike), Face (Unreal Tournament), and Blood Gulch (Halo). To be honest, that weren't all that great, since I wasn't quite as good at mapping back then, but whatever. I think I had more planned, but I can't find any traces of them. Anyways, I might go ahead and release those under a GPL or BSD license if I end up doing BitWar. Just thought I should mention this.
nothing looks really promising
nothing looks really promising
I was going to say "don't vote, then", but I saw that you already did. So yeah. By the way, if you guys have any questions at all about any of these projects, feel free to ask. I was going to elaborate on everything more, I just didn't want to make the OP any more intimidating that it already was. So, ask away!
1. Final Legend- It sounds nice and all, but it sounds like it'll either take three years as you said, or it'll come out complete crap. To pull off something like that, you'll need a lot of dedication (not just you, but your entire team) and finding people who will work that much on a non-commercial project.. won't be easy at all. 2. BitWar- This one is the most practical... especially since you already have a plan for which engine to use and already have some of the work done. You've also somewhat made the game once before, so you already know what to expect. 3. Oblivion model ports- Meh, if you've got the potential and ambition to do these other projects, don't waste your time on porting models... 4. Project Horizon- This sounds really impractical. Twenty-thousand separate pieces? That won't only take forever to design, but forever to program, and forever to test. It'll be a pain to make sure each piece works well with the next unless they all have similar, boring functionality. Even trading card games don't have twenty-thousand different cards, and even if one does it has a helluva lot more people than you're ever gonna find. 5. Starship Kypris- The idea is good and it sounds like you'd give it some originality, so it's worth doing. It also shouldn't take up too much of your time, but I guess that all depends on how active the comic is. This is also an on-going thing, so you'll have to be pretty dedicated with it unlike the other projects where you just finish it, and it becomes so much less of a hassle. 6. Project Overture- Only thing I can say about this one, is good luck. I've tried doing a project entirely on my own, and it was actually a lot of fun; it gave me reason to actually get better at composing and designing graphics. I had planned on making it commercial like you, too. But I gave up on it, so that shows you how well that went. Anyway... there's my two cents.
The poll needs a comedy hurr option, but just work on whatever you want to work on, most of us wont give a shit until theres any progress on it anyway.
Since you're the first person to give rational, logical analysis, I'll comment on each of your major points:
Agreed. This is probably the second-most difficult project on this list, but I honestly think it would be doable. I mean, Haloid took one guy a few months. With a decent team, it would be possible. The problem would be getting the team. I just think the payoff would be worth it. Probably just wishful thinking.
2. BitWar- This one is the most practical... especially since you already have a plan for which engine to use and already have some of the work done. You've also somewhat made the game once before, so you already know what to expect.
Also quite true. My main problem with this is that it would be a bit boring, remaking a game from a few years ago, but since it seems to be a quite popular idea, I think I might be able to knock it out in a few weeks, which would build up my reputation enough to try something more ambitious.
3. Oblivion model ports- Meh, if you've got the potential and ambition to do these other projects, don't waste your time on porting models...
Also agreed. I really only listed it because I still get nagged about it sometimes, and if people really want it done, it's an easy way to grind rep, so to speak.
Coding won't be that difficult. Right now, all the stats are in a spreadsheet, and I can easily code something to read from that. Graphics will also be quite doable, because about 90% of graphics cards look identical from the outside anyways. Your point on testing somewhat stands, but if I take the "Will Wright" approach to game design, wherein a complex system is it's own entertainment, I get a decent end product. And yes, quite a lot of the parts are very, very similar. For instance, the only difference between a Pentium IV 505 and a Pentium IV 505J is the XD bit. So, give one a special perk. Easy game design, right there.
You bring up an interesting point, about how it would be an ongoing commitment. I'm going to have to think about that.
Thanks, I'll need some luck. I'm already thinking of features I can cut to make it a smaller project, and I'm using any public-domain resources I can. Which isn't that much, actually, since there are very few PD models, which is my main problem. Detail props are tedious and boring, but very, very necessary.
Anyway... there's my two cents.
Well, thanks for the input.
The maps for BitWar look pretty boring ATM. I like the idea though.
Webcomic.
I've voted for BitWar but Final Legend and Overture sound great. I say finish BitWar, come back to this thread and follow the second most voted option.
The maps for BitWar look pretty boring ATM. I like the idea though.
I made that version in about 2 weeks. While trying to lead a group of high-school slackers in original game design. I literally put out a patch minutes before the expo opened. I considered it the first speedrun of game production. So yeah, of course it looks boring. Especially since Google raped the image quality on those manuals. I will be improving all the maps, if I go with that project. Which looks likely. Although things could change by Friday. Project Horizon looks like it's on the upswing. [editline]09:13PM[/editline]
I've voted for BitWar but Final Legend and Overture sound great. I say finish BitWar, come back to this thread and follow the second most voted option.
That looks like the current plan. Of course, I might throw up another poll to decide that. Maybe on a different forum, though. TVTropes would love Final Legend, maybe I can find some help there. And Slashdot would love the idea of computer history as grimdark cyberpunk.
OK, time for a media dump. And also a thread bump. But I have content by the bucketful, so it's justified. First, BitWar is leading the polls. As such, here's a video, basically the main theme over a montage of crappy screenshots. How crappy? Taken on school computers, that's how crappy. Just listen to the music. Tied for second are Oblivion ports and Project Horizon. There's no point in me showing Oblivion images, since you've presumably played the game by now. Likewise, there isn't anything I can show for Horizon, since it's mostly gameplay mechanics and a huge spreadsheet right now. Final Legend is in fourth place, and there's stuff I can show for it. Here's some snippets from the script:
Sephiroth: Oh look. The bitch is back. Why is it that nobody stays dead anymore? Next they'll be bringing that annoying Rhapsodos back.

Cloud: Fine then. What do you propose? Link: I don't know. Burn the place down. Kill him with fire. Something like that. Cloud: That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Link: At least it's better than "poke him with swords". Cloud: You'd be throwing away any element of surprise! Link: Well excuuuuuse me! Tifa <aside, to Zelda, as argument continues>: They're like a pack of wolves. Zelda <aside, to Tifa, as argument continues>: You don't know the half of it. Cloud: At least I don't wear earrings! Link: At least I don't spend hours a day making sure my hair is perfectly spiked! Cloud: At least I never went around catching bugs! Link: At least I never wore a dress!

Sephiroth <sarcastically>: Well now, who is this? Is there some champion willing to challenge the Great Sephiroth? <begin slow fade-in of Zelda Theme, SSBB chant version> Link <building to triumph>: I am Link, the Hero of Time, Chosen by the Goddesses, Protector of Hyrule, Wielder of the Master Sword, Bearer of the Triforce of Courage, slayer of the dark wizard Agahnim, the villainous Vaati, the king of nightmares Dethl, the evil spirit Majora, the witches Koume and Kotake, the monster Bellum, the demon Malladus, and the usurper Zant. I have faced a thousand dangers over a dozen lives. I have stared evil in the face and spat upon it. I have sailed the Great Sea, and visited the Twilit world. There is no place I have not been, no enemy that has been able to defeat me in even combat. If you wish to burn my kingdom, you will have to face me, and YOU! WILL NOT! PREVAIL! <music lingers for a moment> Sephiroth: <still sarcastically> Be careful, Mr. Hero. You never know when you will come face to face with a GOD! <blaring over Zelda theme comes "The World's Enemy". Begin fight scene 2-B>
Trailing in the polls is Project Overture. I don't have any current renders worth showing, so I'll link to some old wallpapers I'd made. Last, and currently least in the polls, is Starship Kypris. I'll just post a synopsis of the major countries (nations? cultures?):
The Akigran Empire is probably the largest nation. Their homeworld, Akigrad, is known to humans as Mu Herculis e, approximately 27.4 light years from Sol. As Akigrad is a significantly colder planet than Terra, Akigrans usually wear insulative garments when on other planets. They are a fiercely warlike race, and predate humanity by several thousand years. They were the aggressors during the First War and the Second War, both times inflicting significant damage on humanity, but eventually being fought to a draw. They have also conquered and "assimilated" several other races, levying huge taxes and drafting cannon fodder from them, with little regard for their survival. Their internal political system is entirely unknown. Other major bases include Agarda, Akuvar, and Adarak. The Nahoillheckh Empire is a much more benign empire. A parliamentary government makes most high-level decisions, with the Emperor usually relegated to a ceremonial position, except in times of crisis. Their home planet, Nahoilla, was known to humans as Delta Pavonis d. Biologically, they are extremely similar to humans, to the extent that interbreeding may be possible. As such, no reputable scientists believe they evolved independently, though they disagree as to how the planets were linked. They are well-equipped militarily, but are not notably aggressive. Notably, in the Third War, the aggressors were the Terrans, not the Nahoillheckh. Note also that, in the comics, this will be spelled using IPA, which doesn't seem to work well on FP. Thus, the name will look significantly less stupid when I can use one symbol instead of "llh" or "ckh". Zirencian Alliance: A tribal spacefaring society, their homeworld was destroyed in an interplanetary collision. Their sole remaining biospheres are in the Gliese 581 system. Gliese 581c is a hellish, venus-like planet, with a mean temperature of 460 Celcius, and an atmosphere unbreathable by humans. This one, surprisingly, is the more habitable to the Zirencians, who need only a bit of cooling to survive there. Gliese 581d is much more resource-rich, making it a mining planet with nearly the population of 581c. It is, however, covered in water, and with a helium-heavy atmosphere, it is nearly as inhospitable to humans. Politically, the Zirencians are too busy fighting small, low-intensity conflicts with themselves to attack other races. The Union of Riino Republics is a human nation not allied with the Terran Homeland Alliance. For the most part, they are based in the Tau Ceti system, in which the second planet is roughly Earth-like, although with no native life due to the frequent (astrophysically-speaking) impact events. Although one planet is colonized, it is in the asteroid belts that the economy thrives. They remain militarily prepared, mainly due to the recent split from the THA. They are attempting to colonize several nearby systems. The Terran Homeland Alliance is, as you may have guess, the main human nation. Based on Sol 3, they are expansionists, with colonies reaching to 55 Cancri f. They have already fought four wars, two with the Akigrans, one with the Nahoillheckh, and one against the Riino Republics. They are also dealing with a separatist movement, which is widening the gap between the dwellers of the Sol/Alpha Centauri systems, and the more remote colonies.
Let the voting continue!
follow your heart and passion, do what you like the best
follow your heart and passion, do what you like the best
I fully intend to. I just have difficulty deciding which is the best. All of those options are my passion, at some level. Really, the only option I wouldn't fully enjoy is Oblivion ports, although it might be worth it just to keep people from nagging me about it again.
fuck,I voted for Oblivion models. Should have voted for bitwar. I WILL PLAY BITWAR.
i wish to discuss private business matters with you gman over steam. accept my invitation of friendship.
Make a zombie mmofps and you'll be rolling in money no matter how bad you make it.
Woah, sorry I was out so long. Stupid internet went down just as I started checking everything, didn't come back for half a day.
i wish to discuss private business matters with you gman over steam. accept my invitation of friendship.
Done. I might have further 'net problems, though. Sorry about that.
Make a zombie mmofps and you'll be rolling in money no matter how bad you make it.
While I do like rolling in money, that isn't the greatest plan. First off, making ANY mmo requires a good bit of start-up funding, to buy the servers and such. Second, an mmo needs a massive amount of content, well beyond what one guy can reasonably do. Third, I think zombies are starting to get played out, and might fall out of favor before I can finish anything. Although I do have ideas for mmos and zombie games, I'm not particularly interested or able to complete them at this time.
Does nobody have any questions? None at all? I can answer pretty much anything you can ask about. What 'shipping goes on in Final Legend? How does the upgrade system works in BitWar? What models am I planning to port from Oblivion? How the combat works in Project Horizon? What is the meaning behind the Nahoillheckh's use of the hyperformal superlative pluplural nominative in their self-designated species name? How crazy does the plot to Project Overture get? Go ahead and ASK.
Option 7 : Go outside and make friends [x]
I'm looking forward to BitWar like everyone else, just get that out the way so long.. and post us some more game play videos asap
I'm looking forward to BitWar like everyone else, just get that out the way so long.. and post us some more game play videos asap
Unfortunately, I don't seem to have any actual gameplay videos, or even images. Remember, the original mod no longer works with the updated engine, so I can't just go take new pictures. [editline]10:40AM[/editline] Wow. Looking back at it, the OP was really badly-formatted. I patched it up a bit, so it isn't quite the wall of text it was. Or at least, it doesn't look like it. Looking at the graph I've been keeping, it looks pretty clear that BitWar will win the vote. Since I don't actually need any help for it, I'll probably end up doing that one first. That's not final, though. Since BitWar could be finished quickly, I'll probably move onto Project Horizon next, which is what the graph says will come in second, unless a spike for Oblivion turns into a trend. Yes, I made a graph. Don't judge me!
I'm beginning to think a five-day poll is too long. It's only been two, and BitWar has been winning for all of it, and by a pretty wide margin too. Then again, BitWar shouldn't take me more than a month. I could probably have an alpha done in a week. So, second place in this poll is still important, as it would decide the project after that. And who knows? Something could still unseat BitWar.
Huh. I just noticed something peculiar. For all but one option, someone has voted and then been banned. The only one that doesn't have any red names beside it is Project Overture, the long-term one. Maybe it's because I described it as a very cerebral game, and most banned people are not that bright. Or perhaps because I described it as a long-term project, and banned users are usually very impatient and impulsive. Someone could get a master's thesis out of that, I wager. At least an article in a psychology or sociology magazine.
