When I lived in Nairobi, my family occasionally saw bot fly infestations, but even more terrifying was dracunculiasis caused by guinea worms. I'm not going to post a link or video but it's out there and it's horrifying. It's a worm that burrows its way from your stomach to your limb, then starts to grow, living just under the skin, causing excruciating pain. And getting infected is as simple as drinking contaminated water.

I am so fucking glad to be off that continent.

This happened to one of my granma's roosters.
It was fucked up in the legs and couldn't walk. It had to crawl around like a dolphin on land.
When it died, we found bot fly eggs on it, and some hatching or something.
