• THQ's Stock rises nearly 40 percent thanks to humble bundle
Whether you think the organisers of the Humble Bundle were right to host a Windows only, Steam only bundle of great games (and Red Faction: Armageddon), it’s been a pretty good move for THQ. Since the pay-what-you-want sale went live, not only has the site raised almost $3.3 million, but it’s had a positive effect on the company’s share price too. Moments after the bundle’s launch, THQ’s stock rose 37.96% to $1.61 per share, at which point previous investors took the opportunity to jump ship, quickly knocking the share price down to around the $1.40 mark. Stocks are weird. It’s a definite improvement on THQ’s pre-bundle price tag of $1.07. Although, to put those figures in perspective, the troubled Zynga has a share price of $2.33, while EA and Activision are laughing their way to the invisible bank of fake money that doesn’t exist at $14.65 and $11.36 respectively. What we don’t know is how much of the raised money is heading directly to THQ, with the distribution between them, the Humble organisers and charity not available. What is known is that THQ CEO Brian Farrell’s donation of $1,650 went entirely to charity. He stresses that this “should not be interpreted as a recommendation to others on their split.”
Full article: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/12/03/thqs-stock-rises-nearly-40-thanks-to-humble-bundle/ Neat!
Good for them!
fuck yes my stocks
That was a damn fine deal. Everybody wins.
It be interesting how much Valve's stock jumped after each steam sale (if they were not a privately owned company).
I gave all of the money I donated to THQ.
I wonder how much they'd make if they did this with every game that they create. Still, amazing numbers, I just hope it'll actually help them.
Argh, I was looking at investing in THQ but I wasn't certain that this would have had this much return! Quickly, to the time machine!
I'm glad. THQ is one of my favorite gaming companies. They've brought me so many enjoyable experiences.
my simtrader investments. I made a little money, but when I went all in it was too late. :(
Holy shit good for them!
Grandparents just decided to invest after hearing i made 40% overnight, buyin up THQ
FUUUUUUUCK DAMMIT I was waiting to buy some since last year, I have $700 saved up for stock, it was so damn cheap half a year ago! I mean yay this is good!
I thought the title said TH89 instead of THQ and got really, really confused. I blame the font I'm using.
I feel glad that the $15 I pitched in helped their stocks rise, even if there were bigger contributions.
I can smell more AAA humble indie bundles in the future. (almost said inb4 which is obviously a meme and a bannable offense) [editline]3rd December 2012[/editline] Also,
Steam only bundle of great games (and Red Faction: Armageddon)
:v:

Well what an opinionated article, but good on THQ.
Well what an opinionated article, but good on THQ.
Sorry it's the first one I found, but you can't help but feel happy for thq
yeah buy at the peak thats the way to do it
Better late than never, but they probably should have waited until they dipped back down (which is inevitable)
Sure wish I bought some stocks a couple weeks ago
I've personally enjoyed my time with Armageddon, I honestly don't see why it has gotten a load of hate.
Guerilla was open world and had lots of freedom and fun with lots of big things to break Armageddon was linear as fuck with hardly anything to break Good on THQ for getting some money back, their games are great and good lord we need Saints Row 4
I thought the title said TH89 instead of THQ and got really, really confused. I blame the font I'm using.
What happened to TH89 anyway?
I've personally enjoyed my time with Armageddon, I honestly don't see why it has gotten a load of hate.
I played about half the game thinking eventually you would be able to leave the cave and start the open world exploration again. Just a bit longer a kept saying to myself. Just one more dingy cave and we'll reach the surface... What. Happened.
yeah buy at the peak thats the way to do it
Buy high sell low
$1.01 for 6 games was a good deal for me.

THQ is one of the last publishers I still have respect for, hopefully their stock goes even higher when COH2 releases.
