I'm not sure how I feel about my childhood being torn down around me.
I'm reminded of one of the gifs that came out of that debate a while back.

I was watching that talk show Neil hosts and Bill made a joke about how he had a boner in a sex museum.
It was enlightening

I felt like that at first. But I like how active Bill Nye is still in his field. Rather than just being a face for a TV show. He's now an icon for the adults who grew up with him so he's a bit freer to do this.
Though him saying bullshit and fucking is a bit odd :v:

he tried so hard but he still ended up being gently enthused and informative
Not that Bill Nye wasn't awesome before, but I swear that guy ages like wine, he gets better with every year.
I believe in this hippy dippy bullshit and I still laughed. I believe in it but its bullshit non the less....
I mean if you want to believe in God or some higher power, its best advised to find it through negation. The God delusion and knowledge what bias and tricks the mind plays on itself makes it easier to figure what isn't "God"

How dare you think that there's something special about the fact that you're the only kind of organism in the universe that can think first in the first person, stop that!

What are you even trying to say? Of course you're special, you're you, but the universe isn't trying to tell you anything, other than what you tell yourself it does.

I think it's pretty clear that the video was intended to mock the general belief that you got a message from above as opposed to the specific idea that the universe told you something. Honestly, nobody claims that the universe told them something as if it's conscious.
That just makes no fucking sense, I mean, it's just bullshit. -Bill
Kinda want to see Bill do a show like Penn and Tellers Bullshit but with Science.

Those girls did (even if they are actors). And a great deal of people actually do. So, yeah.

I don't think you should so readily speak for so many people

What's happening in the video is a form of bias and a need to feel special through a so called higher authority and the need to feel special is ego speaking. Not God nor Universe or any woo-ery of the type.

I've never heard a single person claim that the universe told them something myself. Regardless, the video is quite obviously referring to a general way of thinking as opposed to a specific one and is making fun of people for holding to it, that is what I was calling out.

At worst, the video is only pointing out that people often are affected by confirmation bias and come up with ridiculous things to explain events nature of which they don't understand. I think you are simply getting offended over nothing.

In fact, you are actually confirming what the video is saying. Good job, I guess?

A sentiment that I agree is quite ridiculous, but no, the "critique" cuts deeper than that. It quite clearly notes that the people pointed out are very small in comparison to the universe as a whole and is casting the thought that there might be some significance to their experiences as stupid (also by portraying them as exaggeratedly stupid).
I'm not really offended so much as annoyed that a short that is so safe and within the box when it comes to subject matter can have a swearing children's icon thrown in and be passed as funny.
What the fuck are you even trying to argue about it's a fucking COMEDY CENTRAL SKIT GODDAMN
This is great. I don't know why people are arguing over a Comedy Central skit.
