People are retarded. In Australia we pay $100 for new games. Starcraft 2 is still like, $70 here.
I know it was a purposeful exaggeration but the exchange prices really are not as bad as people make it out to be. Most new 60$ games can be returned for 30$.

I hope you don't, either.

Except you're also losing the xbox that you originally payed for so it's not really scamming them at all.

yeah well it's either pay 100$ to have them fix it and take like, 3 months if you don't have a warranty or do the towel trick constantly because your xbox doesn't work
or do this
hey man its your choice, either lose money, get nothing and work with a shitty xbox, or get some money off a broken xbox
Then you have to buy a new Xbox.
I don't understand why people get so pissed off with GameStop / EB Games over their low buy-back value. You're purchasing a product from a retail store and then attempting to sell it back to the retail store after you've used it. If you're unsatisfied with the low amount you get for your game, go sell it on Ebay/kijiji/craigslist or to one of your friends.
Look at vehicles, the second you drive a newly-purchased one off the dealership's property, the value of the vehicle has instantly depreciated by at least 15%. That's a good chunk of change lost on day 0 without putting more than 0.1 miles on the engine. I know video games are very different products, but I just don't see why people are getting all fussy about it. I personally don't sell my games because I A) enjoy playing all of them, and B) keep old ones and play them for nostalgia. I don't buy a game with the intention of selling it back after I've beaten it. That's what renting is for.
Game stop isn't that bad. If you played a game and didn't like it at all you can return it for full price. I've done this several times. If you're done with playing a game and trade it in for 8 bucks, that's 8 dollars more than you had 10 minutes ago, and you got rid of something you don't want. Sure it's unfair that they do turn around and sell it for like 30 dollars, but you still got paid for something you didn't want.
Uh not sure what's going on ITT, Gamestop is definitely shit.
If you buy games, buy them at Best Buy. If you sell them, sell them on Craigslist. If you want used games, get them from local places, they'll have a lot more and they'll be a lot cheaper.

Games and consoles are the same price everywhere, it won't matter if you buy from Best Buy, GameStop, or anywhere else.
I honestly don't understand what the fuss is about other than people who expect to get a full refund after they play the game.

Also really the worst thing about Gamestop and why I'll never buy from them again is they're the ones who first started pre-order bonuses. After them the concept of DLC achieved an entirely new level of fucking stupid.

Most Gamestop stores dont sell a very large amount of PC games. However their online selection isnt bad. They dont allow for pc games to be returned but you cant really blame them considering alot require some sort of key to play.
I don't hate gamestop because of their price model. I hate them because of all the exclusive content.

No shit?
You don't understand it do you?

fuck I wish I knew about this little scheme earlier. I had a broken xbox for awhile because of RROD and the towel trick always fixed it each time for a few days. I ended up throwing it away and buying a new xbox...
Thats why I never trade in my old games. Might as well keep it if Im only getting $8.
gamestop shouldnt be giving him anything at all
So you are saying gamestop shouldn't make trades at all?

They give horible buy back prices but that wouldn't be a problem if they didn't buy up all the competition in my area. Not to mention using buyers to test games instead of doing it themselves and bugging you to buy stuff everytime you enter.

In late 2006 they were willing to give me 30$ for my original xbox and the 32 games that came with it.
