man, they sure had fun visiting finland
wish I'd get to shoot that maxim
wow, i guess /k/ doesn't exaggerate the bolt on a mosin
have to really hammer it with your palm
never realized Ian is a lefty
finnish mosins generally have a lot smoother actions than russian ones, that one must be either worn to shit or it just looks really awkward because ian is a lefty
Finnish Mosins are not really Mosins to me, comparing them to the average Mosin its an insult to the Finnish rifles.
That m91/24 must just be a poor example but it gives you a good idea on what the average russian Mosin is like, a sticky, jammy, hammer the fuck out of the bolt handle pile of trash.
And god damn that ROF on half of those is great.
How come they had to press that little button every time they stopped firing the Maxim? Is that how Maxim guns work or is it something special?

I guess some sort of safety

I figured, but is that the standard maxim operation or something they had to install in this one to make it legal or something?

Agreed, I own an M39 and it is head and shoulders above the Russian Mosins. Everything is perfect. The stock is beautiful, it's accurate and stupid fun to shoot. And it gets people talking.
Though the bolt on mine can be a little sticky. Might have to do some annealing where it contacts the receiver to give it more room.
I've actually got a pre-WW2 russian Mosin that was manufactured in 1928, before they started cutting a lot of corners with the design. I've never had any problems with it at all - the bolt is butter-smooth and it's surprisingly accurate for a ~90 year old rifle.
