Made this today while bored. I was messing around on Universe Sandbox, and that song came on as I loaded this simulation. I was kind of touched by how well they fit.
Nvidia showed off a simulation of this at GTC this year. Skip to about 3 mins in. Pretty cool stuff.
Makes me want to play some SpaceEngine again.
What would happen to the earth? Would it vaporize by the stars?
What would happen to the earth? Would it vaporize by the stars?
I read an article on this topic, and if it were to actually happen tomorrow nothing bad would happen to us because it's actually a very elegant process that lasts quite a while. However, by the time this will happen in a billion years or so, the Earth wouldn't be able sustain life by then.
What would happen to the earth? Would it vaporize by the stars?
The distance between two stars is so great that it's extremely unlikely that one would pass close enough to the earth to affect us. As said in the video, whatever happened to our solar system, it'd pretty much be the same as it is nowl

With the hearts of each galaxy finally colliding and exploding right as the song climaxes.
By the time this happens, assuming our species is still around in some form or another, we have probably unlocked many secrets of the universe and might be able to control suns and maybe even galaxies.
There would be no multicellular life on Earth by the the time this occurs. So either we are all dead or we hauled ass off of Earth.
By the time this happens, assuming our species is still around in some form or another, we have probably unlocked many secrets of the universe and might be able to control suns and maybe even galaxies.
I don't think that will ever be possible. The amount of energy needed to move something as massive as a galaxy would be incomprehensible. Besides, it doesn't really matter. This process takes millions upon millions of years, and if the human race survives during the time that they begin colliding, it won't be affected much by the entire process. Some colonized solar systems might be shot out into space, but even that would take millions upon millions of years.
Somebody needs to make a simulation with the earth highlighted so we can see how fucked we are.
Wouldn't planets collide against each other while this process is happening?
Wouldn't planets collide against each other while this process is happening?
It would be like trying to hit a target on earth by hand throwing a rock from the moon.
It would be like trying to hit a target on earth by hand throwing a rock from the moon.
The analogy I had in mind was: "Imagine that our sun is a ping pong ball in Paris. If everything were scaled like this, the nearest star to our Sun (which is Proxima Centauri) would be a pea in Berlin."
