China has flown a nuclear-capable bomber outside its borders in a show of force for the first time since US President-elect Donald Trump’s phone call with the president of Taiwan.
The 10-minute telephone call with President Tsai Ing-wen was the first by a US president-elect or president since President Jimmy Carter switched diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to China in 1979, acknowledging Taiwan as part of 'One China'. It led to protests from Beijing.
The Xian H-6 bomber flew along the disputed 'nine-dash line' around the South China Sea on Thursday, US officials told Fox News, passing over a number of disputed islands. The officials said it was designed to send a message to the incoming administration.

Yeah Trump. Don't take calls from her, but do sell her weapons - we're ok with that.
what message, exactly, does that send? :v:
We haven't even had him in the office yet and this is already happening.
Fucking christ...
Fuck off China, he's doing fine with destroying the country on his own.
Because nuking Taiwan will be an effective way of bringing it back into the fold :v:
imagine if humanity's final chapter ends because a reality tv star tweeted about a phone call

Show of force. "Don't piss us off" basically.
Thankfully i don't think trump's balls are big enough to go up against god fucking damn china, so I'm not worried. much.

I think trump will try a lot to bend china over and halt their spread of power, but hopefully the puppeteers controlling trump are smart enough to realize nobody wins the nuke game
I'd find it funny that people were so concerned about Clinton "having a very real threat of starting WW3" when we are potentially on that path with Trump if it wasn't so horrifying.
If anything could start WW3 or a serious nuclear threat between two world powers, it would either be with Taiwanese acknowledgement in the current landscape between them and China or a conflict involving Russia. And with Trump, at least one of those is seeming increasingly likely.
the whole south china sea thing has just been consistent dickwaving between the US and China. China is being a complete shitter about the whole ordeal though, and they really have no claim in the South China Sea. The US has been sailing through it as a sort of "like fuck we care what you say this area is"-sort of gesture.
Things will probably escalate but I have no idea where they can or even could go. China will not easily back down on this though, they've put a lot of money and political face into this region
that's closer to war than what trump supporters were afraid Hillary would bring about lol

The size of Trump's balls is only topped by the tininess of his brain.

It's a scare tactic. We do the same thing, we shadow their warships and subs the minute they leave territorial waters and ping them non-stop until they give up and go home. It's the same reason we sit in the South China sea with a super carrier, a shit ton of Cruisers, Destroyers, a shit ton of Marines, and LCACs with enough combined ordnance to easily level and/or invade a small country.
It's the same reason Russian and America fly nuclear capable bombers near each other, this is simple political posturing. They likely hope scare people who either dislike trump and/or who think China is stupid enough to go to war because he doesn't like China.

Cold War 2.0 Electric Boogaloo includes the "rising power in East Asia" expansion but the core mechanics remain unchanged
Honestly I dont expect global thermonuclear war in or following a Trump presidency, I feel like the threat of MAD is too great and most countries' leaders and administrations are wise enough not to push the button. Although I feel like worsening our relations with China is not a smart thing to do whatsoever and if there were any administration stupid enough to put that threat into reality, it would be Trump and his circus clowns.

well trump has put a ton of corrupt businessmen in his cabinet, and you can't make money from radioactive dust
most countries' leaders and administrations are wise enough not to push the button.
But do you think Trump is?

you are right.
but trump is an exception to "most"
he asked why we cannot simply use nuclear weapons multiple times during briefings. He truly does not understand the risk we are at here.
this man deserves to be in a crib, not in the presidential office
But do you think Trump is?
Nah, maybe I worded it poorly but that was the point of the end of my post lol
Nothing will come of this. Part of leading the country is knowing how to stand up to this kind of crass intimidation tactic.
But do you think Trump is?
Trump isn't but there's people to stop him.

well to be fair the secretary of defense has to authorize a nuclear attack even if the president orders it, and hopefully james mattis is a little more even-headed when it comes to signing humanity's death warrant

and that's exactly why voting for trump was a mistake. he lacks that critical, necessary quality.
We haven't even had him in the office yet and this is already happening.

Frankly the US should have called the Chinese out on the Taiwan issue decades ago.
and that's exactly why voting for trump was a mistake. he lacks that critical, necessary quality.
Nobody really knows how he's going to respond - I think that's exactly why China is doing this, to get a feel for what to expect.
The United States and China will never go to war. The Economic loss to both is too great. Each country might as well just bomb themselves.
that's closer to war than what trump supporters were afraid Hillary would bring about lol
It actually isn’t, If relations with Russia can be stabilized by Trump china really cant do anything anymore.
Thats not the same if china is like meh but russia is being pestered by hillary.
TBH all of this feels like the start of Red alert 2, but without yuri.

It's funny that Trump is seen as the immature one, when China's the one who's throwing a hissyfit that Trump is giving recognition to a sovereign nation.
Moreover, China isn't retarded enough to go to war over this; they are just posturing and I hope the world calls their bluff and stops ignoring the elephant in the room.

They quite obviously wont go to war over it, but war isn't the only negative thing that can come out of worsening relations with one of the if not THE biggest world power and economy.
Acknowledging Taiwan as a sovereign nation is admirable and morally sound, but is a massive and dangerous foreign policy blunder.
