What the hell is Battlefield Premium?
What the hell is Battlefield Premium?
A way to suck more money out of the customers

If you do the math, Battlefield Premium really isn't that bad of a deal. There are a lot of kneejerk reactions that go "EA IS MILKING US" while you're getting 20 maps (assuming they keep up the 4 maps per DLC pack), a ton of new weapons, new vehicles and other little gizmos over the course of a year for those 50 bucks.
EA's definitely milking us by giving us a package that saves our money
ya know, stuff that should've ALREADY BEEN IN THE FUCKING GAME
That was made AFTER THE GAME WAS RELEASED. It's not like they cut it out, this is brand new content created after they finished the game. With that mindset, every expansion pack ever should be added to the game for free, and while that would be great, they aren't just through a few worthless things into a pack and selling it off for 30 dollars. This is actually a decent price for quite a lot of content.
That was made AFTER THE GAME WAS RELEASED. It's not like they cut it out, this is brand new content created after they finished the game.
care to source where you heard that?
care to source where you heard that?
Care to source where you heard it was cut from the game? Because people claiming that are the ones with the burden of proof, not people countering it. The content was developed after the game was finished being developed, BTK was able to coincide with launch due to it being developed during the last stages of game development. Every other expansion is being developed after, and you can tell DICE are actually working on them due to them improving existing features (such as the destruction).
What the fuck? We used to get this kind of content for free!
ya know, stuff that should've ALREADY BEEN IN THE FUCKING GAME
Since when is it wrong for a company to create content after a game was made? Things like the ME3 DLC is bullshit because that was on the fucking disk and part of the game in the first place. Where as this is not and coming out a good bit of time after the games release. So please stop jumping on the EA hate bandwagon and think it through.
Battlefield Premium should allow you to to use steam instead of origin and battlelog for that price.
Both current gen "realistic shooters" are terrible anyway and they'll continue to be [editline]5th June 2012[/editline]
What the fuck? We used to get this kind of content for free!
Yeah, then someone got the bright idea of releasing it for money after the game's release, and enough people didn't complain and bought it.
Yeah, then someone got the bright idea of releasing it for money after the game's release, and enough people didn't complain and bought it.
Super Secret Fun! There are hypertext links hidden in this and my previous post. Can you find them? also there are other ways to get this premium crap for cheap and probably it's going to be on a sale next month. Heck, I might even get it if the price is right.
Still the best DLC for me
Premium is not a bad deal at all. It's just basically just a way for EA to sell DLC pre-orders waaay in advance.
I hate you Dice, I hate you
You are aware of that it was not DICE who made this decision, it was EA. Some months ago I specifically remember reading that DICE were against all sorts of "pay to get extra stuff" services. But as you probably already know, EA are a bunch of dicks and they most likely forced them into doing it, one way or another.
At least its not like Call of Duty. Where you pay about 60 bucks total for dlc. Just to have another game released a year later. Battlefield 3 will be around for some time before they make another one.
Still the best DLC for me
I'm pretty sure I just hired this out at a video store for a couple of bucks and got all the maps that way.
Definately one of the better DLC deal's i've bought personally, if it was a subscription i'd have told EA to go fuck themselves ( again ) but considering it's a one off an saves money from buying the DLC 1 by 1 i'm happy with it.
This is a way for them not having to put as much effort into the DLC.
This is a way for them not having to put as much effort into the DLC.
This is also a way for them to fund better DLC.
Premium is not a bad deal at all. It's just basically just a way for EA to sell DLC pre-orders waaay in advance.
Sounds like it isn't retarded when you put it that way, but it seems that you forgot to mention the details.
Sounds like it isn't retarded when you put it that way, but it seems that you forgot to mention the details.
What? Such as cosmetic changes like a new knife, and special camouflage options, along with a new BL profile look, and from my understanding new sights for certain weapons (which would provide no advantage other than looking different). The other details? Special events including the occasional Double XP weekend (how will this provide an advantage when everything is unlocked quickly anyway?), and the ability to jump nearer the front of server queues (why are you joining servers with that big a queue in the first place?). I also hear that servers can lock out non-premium players, but again, you'd be playing on shit servers to run into that. So, where are the downsides for not buying it exactly? You wouldn't be missing out on much but cosmetics an a few events that won't provide you any real advantage. If the DLC was Premium only I could understand not liking the idea, but the DLC isn't, and that is what provides new, game changing content.

It might not BREAK THE GAME AND FUCK EVERYTHING UP JESUS CHRIST but it's no less idiotic.
Sorry i can't convince you that whoring an AAA title everyone paid 60 for with a premium account bullshit that gives real advantages and ~~exclusivity~~ along with the option to make premium-only servers is not a good idea, it's fucking outrageous actually, that they even considered this. It might not BREAK THE GAME AND FUCK EVERYTHING UP JESUS CHRIST but it's no less idiotic.
People have found ways to block certain groups of players from their servers in the past. And guess what? Only the shitty servers did it! So the only servers blocking you from playing because you aren't premium aren't servers worth playing in the first place. You would be paying around, or more than the cost of premium if you were to buy the expansions separately (as long as you don't own any or just BTK), so why not buy Premium and get some free cosmetic shit? You were going to buy them anyway right? That's the idea behind premium, not so much the free shit they throw in, but the pre-purchasing of expansions. The extras are just incentive. It's hardly idiotic, it's actually quite a good deal for a one off payment considering the expansions will cost more anyway by themselves. And you still haven't told me what these "real" advantages premium provides are. Queue skipping is hardly an advantage when queues aren't a problem on pretty much all the servers out there (plus you can just, I dunno, browse the fucking Internet while you wait to play? BattleLog works like it does for a reason, so you don't have to start at a fucking loading screen).
So, I take it none of you guys are buying any of the DLC for BF3?
I'm pretty sure I just hired this out at a video store for a couple of bucks and got all the maps that way.
I thought they shut down the servers.
