According to Peshmerga commanders, in a new tactic to slow Kurdish advance in northern area, the IS insurgents plants IEDs in most of the towns and villages.
I dont think IED use is anything new... But holy shit they're so nonchalant about it, you'd think they'd be a bit more careful than tossing it on the ground like that
The use of every day objects makes that pretty scary

Plus very crudely made so they might never go off even when triggered.
His nonchanlantness reminds me of the one Cambodian man who defused the land mines he planted as a kid by hand.
How do you even reach the point of being that comfortable yanking ieds around?
How do you even reach the point of being that comfortable yanking ieds around?
Same way a surgeon gets comfortable with cutting people open, lots of practice
Best thing about this video is that you know somewhere in the North-West Syria there's a Kurdish town with about 1000 people kicking the asses of the people who planted these.
i like how at the end the camera pans around to shows some people standing around and another guy filming it on his phone
How do you even reach the point of being that comfortable yanking ieds around?
Practice, and the fact these IEDs appear to be ones operates by touch operation. Not 100% sure on the things being used, but the device that activates the crockpot bomb is your standard pressure sensor. Sorta like the ones used in buildings with sliding doors. Not to mention, all the stuff used in this film, you can very easily purchase for under thirty bucks per bomb. Weight sensor at 0-3kg, a crockpot, and some blackpowder or some explosive material is all you need. With a weapon like this, so long as you don't put far to much pressure on the weight scale, or just cut the wire before hand, renders the device inactive.
The way the title's worded makes it sounds like they were presents the Kurds didn't want for eid

Most of these devices are only triggered via electric current and the sapper probably new it already.
Pretty much a pressure ID. You have a wooden plank on top of one another, sometimes with stuff in the middle to prevent whatever completes the connection from touching. Step on the wooden plank, circuit is completed, off goes the bomb. Daisy Chains are the ones you should worry about. They'll set up an IED for you to see and want to dispose of. But they'll also hide a few further away from it, about where they think those who come to disarm and dispose of the obvious IED might be while they do it. Then set those off remotely
