I don't think I've ever not watched a video so hard based off thumbnail alone.
He has some pretty good points. I’d recommend his video on cliches , since that one doesn’t have a sarcastic tone.

The fact the thumbnail put you off actually means it's doing its job, in the case of TWA.
His entire schtick is "you should do the opposite of everything I say and show." And that includes his thumbnail, including "never use a fucking 'awesome face' meme seriously."

That's a really weird shtick to have if you want views, but yeah it definitely worked I ain't watching it lol, ironic or not.
one complaint about the video: a cyberpunk that isn't taking place in a somewhat dystopic setting is just a sci-fi

Yeah, a lot of the stuff he is addressing is sort of like complaining their are too many cowboys in westerns.

In some ways yeah that point is true, but in other ways I think he's just highlighting how saturated the genre is. Much in the way zombie survival or generic high fantasy.
Few gems that stand out from the crowd and push the envelop but alot are just copy-paste garbage.

Sounds like something a genre redefining film could change.
Can you imagine living as joyless a life as this guy. Had to stop half-way through he was winging so hard.

Genrepunk stories are almost always about a single or small group of characters in opposition against a authority figure of some kind. For example, Bladerunner is an amazing film that absolutely captures the aesthetics and style of a cyberpunk world, but because the story is instead about a detective hunting down a fugitive, it's actually a tech-noir film in terms of genre.

It’s largely jokey. If you’re taking it to heart you’re doing it wrong
