So I'm selling my first car and I'm thinking about getting an S2K.
Whatdyall think about these?
also what should I look for in an S2k (Knowing that they get pretty beat up)

I dunno, they seem fast but every S2000 driver I've ever talked to has been like this.
Make sure you get one with a glass window in the top. If a hardtop is a priority you better buy a car with one already as they cost more than the average Civic. The AP1 is more raw and track orientated than the AP2, the AP2 is a slightly more mild and reliable S2000 which was refined to make it more daily driver sports car material than a weekend car.
Chain tensioners on K series motors are known to go bad(I would assume F20 applies) and the AP1 motors actually have weaker valve retainers. Nearly every other year the stock suspension is revised and softened.

Oh also any parts from an S2000 are worth their weight in gold. Do not bother looking at any less than around 10k, you're going to end up buying someone else's problem or project.

you live in the bay?
I live in san jose, I don't personally drive an S2k (Miata owner here) but my friends who drive them say go with the AP1 if you're serious about it, if you just want a commuter there are better options. AP2 no longer oversteers like AP1, which is fine for daily driving.
or you can be cool and get a miata like me
Every vtec fanatic dream
I see. Are there any other RWD cars as good as the s2k that I can get under 10k?
Miata.
I would fear insurance rates for an S2000
Can you driftu~~ a Miata?
They're cool little cars.
How good of a miata could I get for 9-10k? Would I be able to get a 2005 and up one?
You can get a top notch Miata for ten grand. And yes, with the right setup a Miata can drift.
get a miata with an ls swap.
How's this one?

I'm obviously not gonna be drifting 24/7.. I just wanna slide a little bit on wet ground. Not gonna go all out ken block shit on this hahaha
Looks pretty good, and leaves you with enough budget to go as doriftu as you like.
imo if you plan to drift you should either go all out, buy equipment, and go to a track or dont. you can get everything you need for a decent setup on a miata or other popular platform *cough* 240sx *cough* for less than a ticket or lawsuit will be.
and I wouldnt consider sliding in a wet parking lot drifing, whatever you buy have fun either way just be careful

and you should get an older miata because popups
Thanks for all the help guys.
Hmm... Well the thing is I probably shouldn't have said that I wanted to drift. Consider that like a very very occasional thing. Probably won't even happen at all. I just want a rwd car.
The worst i'l prob do is some wheelspin tbh lmao.
Whatdya guys think of this?

completely different to what we've been talkin about but it looks wayy too good. Even too good to be true.
You're definitely all over the place with cars. You have to focus on one car or at least one type of car.
Regarding the BMW, personally I don't like anything they've put out in the past 15 years or so. I also don't think they're good value for money, I see them listed for so much more and my friends buying them for so much note to than other cars and still having the same issues.
Probably the miata type then. Tiny, Somewhat fuel efficient, but still fun.
Do you guys think that Miata is a bit overpriced? Kbb says it should be around 5k
Not if you don't want a broken and beat one
So it's a good price for a miata like the one I linked. That is if everything they said about the car is true/pictures info updated.
KBB is beyond garbage, it should only be used to knock dealers down on price and tell insurance companies to fuck off when they give you even less than KBB.
You should be able to get it for about 5800-6000, it seems like an excellent car. It's a used car market now, people want good used cars instead of new cars so the used car market is going up in price due to demand.
S2000 sent shockwaves in the tuning industry/scene in Japan for its superb chassis rigidity and balance, engine output and drivetrain configuration. Excellent sports car. Lots of tuning capabilities.
But not for the beginner sadly. Get something like a beater RWD, work on it, appreciate it and you will know if you are ready for the bigger things. You will learn this way
I had a s2k and I loved it. I plan on getting another somewhere down the line.

HELL FUCKING NO, GET A MIATA OR S2K OVER THAT SHIT
Unless your name is DBK do not get a Bimmer, especially a newer one. You will also look like a douche with that or an S2K, no one can be irritated by a Miata though!
Oh and listen to Shiban's sage advice
Thanks for all the help guys! Really appreciate it. I'm pretty much done here.
It's the only car ever to beat the ae86.
Do it bro.
