gotta make money somehow
Souls and GTAO are both P2P while TF2 is server-client. Hmm.
GTAO in particular was badly designed for a PC environment where installing hacks is as easy as dropping a dll and a couple files into the GTAV directory. One of the functions involved in weapon hits allows you to specify the owner and receiver of damage -- which is why GTAO is the only multiplayer game I've ever seen to have trainers that included a button for "make everyone in the server but one person explode no matter where they are, and frame the unexploded person as the mass killer to get them reported for hacks".
Not to mention the 15-30 second loading screens for everything, because every time you want to switch contexts (e.g. re-enter a lobby after a race) you have to resync the P2P with everyone in the immediate session.
I remember logging into GTAO once, just to check something, and the first thing I heard upon hitting the "looking at apartment building" in-session loading screen (because syncing) was a bunch of laughter and a prepubescent voice asking if anyone else saw the flying toilet (a trainer-using player) in the hills above Los Santos, constantly spewing 10 grenades a second. Remembered why I never go into pubs in GTAO.
Forgive me quoting myself, but this recent post is timely. GTAO also had a problem where hackers could ban legit users (by forcing them to unlock weapon skins that shouldn't be unlockable) and R*'s initial response was "err sorry but too bad". I gave up on everything for months afterwards so I never saw the followup.
Here's the real solution, game devs.
Stop.
Fucking.
Porting.
P2P Matchmaking.
to.
PC.
Hacking a console isn't ridiculously hard, but it's not incredibly trivial to the novice, either. Trusting the client on a Windows/etc. PC is insane.

yeah and it's called patreon
not pushing out these videos
clearly some of his fanbase wants these videos
Kinda surprised he didn't talk about the hackers going around effectively softbanning people by modding their weapons to do nasty shit to characters they hit, and give them a ton of souls. While teleporting around while invisible so you can't even evade the fuckers.
I have almost 100 hours already and I can't think of a single time I've seen someone for sure hacking.

160 hours in and I've seen one person with infinite divine blessings just fucking healing away :v: but thats it
and also, was one hit killed by a crossbow

He doesn't run ads on his videos, he's solely funded by Patreon, making multiple Dark Souls 3 videos does pretty much nothing to increase his revenue. Maybe he made them because he, I dunno, likes Dark Souls 3 and wants to cover a game he likes?

Then he could make a sub forum detected to dark

I really hate that they're taking so much of an issue with people doing what I see as completely fine forms of hacking.
That is, just giving themselves souls or items which they could otherwise just have farmed for. It's not really giving an unfair advantage, it's just bypassing the grind.
I did plenty of soul and item adding in the first Dark Souls after I beat it, so I could mess around with a bunch of different builds without having to beat the game every time. I don't see the problem with that.
And yet, it almost seems like they ban more people for having too many souls instead of the actual bullshit like making yourself invincible. And of course then they accidentally ban total innocents who don't even pick stuff up like you mentioned.

You're misunderstanding, they're not giving THEMSELVES a fuckton of souls, they're giving OTHER PEOPLE a fuckton of souls, along with messing up their characters stats, with the intend of getting the people they invade banned.

No, I understood that perfectly fine, and I'm honestly a little hurt that you thought I was so stupid that I didn't get that. I guess I didn't elaborate quite enough on what I meant, I was in a bit of a rush when posting that
My point was, if they didn't ban people hacking themselves a ton of souls, then the people who have a ton of souls forced on them by hackers also wouldn't be banned for it.
.Although I didn't know about the character stats part, that probably makes my point mostly moot anyway.

Well, making sub forums isn't his hobby.
