Hello people, i want to show you this opensource simulator (Cars, Trucks, Planes, Helis, Boats, Weird stuff) (Not to brag) RoR Comunity is pretty small, i've been in it since 2009 making videos, got partnered with ZephixTV (The only partner in RoR Comunity) recently (had about 200 videos), had been the RoR member with most Subs-Views for a long period. The Project has been awarded multiple times on SourceForge website and won the Project Of The Month prize of November. The addons/mods are all made by comunity, so yeah, it's a comunity driven project. Rigs of Rods Website - http://www.rigsofrods.com/forum/ Have fun.
Really cool video, I like the soft physics engine. Some of them seem a little too soft though, almost jelly like. Crumple zones aren't supposed to work quite that way. Gonna check it out now!
I felt the first 30 seconds were too heavily edited with gimmick techniques, but I enjoyed the rest of the video when I could finally see what was going on - and importantly, the aftermath done to each vehicle.
Ye, it was pretty hard to sync the video on the initial part of the music. Also check Montage number 2 and 1
sadly not a lot of custom conent is made anymore because the RoR community is even worse than the GMod community. Elitism, elitism everywhere.
sadly not a lot of custom conent is made anymore because the RoR community is even worse than the GMod community. Elitism, elitism everywhere.
Also because there's a massive lack of people capable of creating decent content, or people that even bother.
And kids, kids became the cancer of the RoR Forums. They just Beg for mods, wrtie liek dis and are annoying. Then there are good members, few of them. I personally learned Blender because of RoR (It was one of the best decision I ever took), and now i started making some contents too in my free time.
One thing I'd love to see in RoR is that one thing they did in mythbusters with crashing two trucks into a hatchback at the same time. I'm too shit at the game to actually line anything up :v:
I love this game, played the shit out of it. I guess I'm easily entertained.
Car physics like this in GTA V, imagine it now.. edit: It'll never happen, but it would be GOTY just for that for me at least
It's videos like this that make me want multiplayer collision detection. There are no other programs that can simulate two oncoming vehicles fusing together and behaving semi-realistically afterward, even if that's just a bug in the engine.
Car physics like this in GTA V, imagine it now..
I've saw many comments from "kids" saying "OGM WANT DIS IN GTA V". To answer Pilotguy97 There's are a few bugs on the physic code, it most depends on the vehicle itself, there are a lot of parameters to set to have the vehicle to behave realistically. Basically it stands to the author of the vehicle to decide to enable inter-vehicle collision (done via submeshes, if not specified car will act as "ghost"). More infos- The RoR Developers are working on a commercial version of this Engine for CryEngine3, the project is called BeamNG, there's no public release yet. Here's a video from their channel
I hate to be that guy - but what are the red hatchback and the Audi sedan called? Also, while crashing may be the main drawing point, it's not the only thing that's fun in this game. Driving is too. The car's suspension and steering are simulated within the physics skeleton. It simulates a fully manual stick shift with clutch, and you can do fancy stuff like this:
Oh I always thought multiplayer collision was hardcoded as disabled and the dev was working on getting it stable enough to implement. Didn't know it was vehicle-based.
No wait, i was talking about SP, in multiplayer you are right, it's hardcoded, they were enabled in a version, but they disabled them because it was very buggy and kids started to be douches crashing everybody...
Yep, thought so.
The Red Hatchback is the Seat Ibiza (Forums) and the Audi 80 B2 (Forums), both from the RoR Member "Mythbuster" No wait, i was talking about SP, in multiplayer you are right, it's hardcoded, they were enabled in a version, but they disabled them because it was very buggy and kids started to be douches crashing everybody...

It makes sense that I want to be able to crash into people, even if I don't necessarily want to crash into them.
I remember this game, had this on my PC like a year age Fun gameish thing
I do remember Tdev (for who doesn't know, the main developer) replied a post with a code for the console, with which you could enable the collision, but he said it would have lasted few secs, the hardcode would have disabled them again. By the way, i have to say that MP has changed a lot, i remember in the 0.35 days, people being nice and having a good time on MP, now everybody uses not-mp-friendly vehicles (causing massive lag to everybody) and mod the poo out of their cars (people without mods would see the vehicle totally different, let's say crap).
We should all get ingame sometime. Could have a few bullshit races or something.
That would be pretty fun.
I really enjoyed that Driver homage Squeegy, quite the nostalgia trip!

I remember the olden days. I started playing with 0.31a. No flexbodies, no chrome, no differentials, no "fix me without respawning" key, no smooth roads. Pricorde was still in charge back then. I miss it.
I knew i recognized your name nadeox. I love ror but youre right, kids killed it. Hopefully you and peniscolada can revive it here.
Does the development of BeamNG mean RoR is no longer supported?
I remember playing this. Good game, but its a pain in the ass on my computer now :v:
We should all get ingame sometime. Could have a few bullshit races or something.
Wait, RoR has multiplayer?!
Does the development of BeamNG mean RoR is no longer supported?
They said they work on RoR on their free time, but I think they they are focusing on BeamNG since they can earn from it.
these video's we will link back to (if not this thread) and laugh at how simple this is compared to what we will have then for physics.
