Banksy murals in my opinion are worth just as much as monuments, they are part of London, and how someone can steal it upsets me.
I'm kind of confused, how do you steal graffiti on a wall?
I'm kind of confused, how do you steal graffiti on a wall?
By removing the wall it's on.
I'm kind of confused, how do you steal graffiti on a wall?
Put it in your pocket and act casual
I'm not really surprised. Finding a Banksy is like finding a Picasso just sitting in the street. Of course someone is gonna take it.
Well this is fucking new whatever they will think of next
If it's valuable and unguarded, someone will try to steal it. Even if it's a wall.
I'm very appaled that the auction house accepts to sell it. These murals are supposed to be for public display, not owned in private.
I'm not really surprised. Finding a Banksy is like finding a Picasso just sitting in the street. Of course someone is gonna take it.
I am surprised that some vandals haven't sprayed over it yet.
How is this stealing exactly the guy painted a wall, of a private building that he doesn't own, in an act of vandalism, it's not like he copyrighted it or anything. Even if the theft was the actual wall (how would you manage that, exactly) would you really care if the thief put more wall in it's place anyway?
If Banksy painted something on the side of the house are you allowed to wash it off or is that not allowed?
If Banksy painted something on the side of the house are you allowed to wash it off or is that not allowed?
Yes because it's your house. Poundland rented the building it was sprayed on and the council are in contact with the owner to see if it was taken legitamitly or stolen.
I will never understand why people idolize that criminal
I will never understand why people idolize that criminal
His graffiti is not like typical shit you see on walls done by teenagers. It's artistic and often carries some message towards politics or something. It also takes some effort to do. Not getting caught and getting the image right.
He could still work on normal mediums rather than vandalize walls around the UK
Normal mediums not boss enough.
Does Banksy even exist? Like nobody has actually seen the guy. It is just an elaborate ruse maybe?
He could still work on normal mediums rather than vandalize walls around the UK
You really don't get it, do you?
Does Banksy even exist? Like nobody has actually seen the guy. It is just an elaborate ruse maybe?
Considering he published a book that I have physically held in my hands and read...
He could still work on normal mediums rather than vandalize walls around the UK
He does that too. :v: He sneaks into museums and puts up his works there.
Does Banksy even exist? Like nobody has actually seen the guy. It is just an elaborate ruse maybe?
He does, though it isn't out of the question that other people do similar work and it's assumed to be his. He also does canvas work as well the street paintings and stuff, and even some sculpting.
Does Banksy even exist? Like nobody has actually seen the guy. It is just an elaborate ruse maybe?
Well he appears in that documentary movie, but his face was always blurred and his voice was distorted.
I will never understand why people idolize that criminal
No fun allowed.
I will never understand why people idolize that criminal
Yes, I prefer my surroundings bleak, grey and as inhuman and sterile looking as possible.
so it's okay to destroy & steal pprivate property and sell it. thanks for enlightening me US auction house!! I will now proceed to take the train to Amsterdam and steal a few Van Goghs!!
I will never understand why people idolize that criminal
It depends what you mean by criminal, the shop he sprayed it on wanted to keep it there, and the residents wanted it there. Is it still a criminal act? I wouldn't mind him spraying a £400,000 stencil on my house
Fine Art Auctions in Miami described the work as "stencil and spray paint on render with additional jubilee bunting". It rejected suggestions that the mural was stolen, saying the listing came from a "well-known collector", who had signed a contract to say "everything was above board".
You believe everything you hear? :v:
