From my experience I fucking love this game. The progression feels so nice and you feel like your character actually gets stronger every run.
My only gripe with the game is, as he says, that the game does not emphasize well enough how important it is to stick together. I have Elves fucking run off and die to a Hook Rat or Gutter Runner FAR too often. Always the elf too, unlike his Slayer Dwarf example.
Definitely worth the money though.
OH also one thing he forgot to mention in regards to variety are Heroic Deeds, which let you run the same mission with variants essentially. These are random and, iirc, are all things that make it even HARDER. For example, I have a Heroic Deed that makes it so that Elite enemies have 2x HP and do 2x Damage, and if you get downed you instantly die. It's real fucked up, but it is a touch more variety.
i want to try it out but im worried about performance issues since the first didn't exactly run that great
Should I get this one or the first game?

This one for sure. First game's good but this improves upon several different things. Plus I think I heard that Fatshark was planning on porting over the first games maps.
Honestly I found it a little bit boring, it's just constantly left click everything in front of you and never using Heavy Attacks because they take too long to charge up and the payoff isn't good enough.
I wish we could get a WH40K horde game that would get this kind of love, spacehulk was pretty meh.

Saltzpyre and Kerillian players consistently suck massive dick at this game. Kerillians run ahead or go off to check on something without warning anyone and thus always get picked off. Salt players always seem to lag behind and unnecessarily aggro patrols and clusters of enemies that can be avoided.
Kerillians think they're much better players than they really are, Salt players all seem like clueless noobs.

It's because some of the elf's weapon movesets are really fucking good and you go mad with bloodlust, forgetting about everything else.

Between that and Dow III i've lost all hope for 40k games, they're cursed.

And then you play Bardin and his two-handed hammer and you crowd-control for days with the heavy attack.

Play on anything above recruit.

I wish there was a WH game where I get to PLAY as a Skaven :/ I started with them in the TT but every game has them as NPCs. I remember there was some sourcemod where it was humans vs skaven but it was dead when I found it years ago.

Mordheim, Blood Bowl II and Total Warhammer II are pretty much the only games where you can be a literal rat bastard and it saddens me. BB is pretty niche though since it's a sports game and I've never played Mordheim so I don't know if it's good.
Don't get mordheim, it's still really expensive for what it is, has awful balance making early game overly hard and the combat itself lacks any flair or fun.

On anything other than recruit you'll die really fast if you play this way. CCing becoming absolutely vital too.

I've heard most 40K TBS games tend to be okayish, although I think most of them are unambitious budget titles.
Me and my two friends have been playing this
It is very enjoyable and is basically what L4D2 was to L4D, the same game at a core with a lot more content and enjoyability

I have to fucking grind Recruit to level up characters for Talents, twice I played on Veteran with higher levels and both times we died, the 2nd time being complete bullshit.
Rat Ogre, then a Leech and then 2 of those Chaos shits, one big armoured one and another high health one.
Really not bothering to play it on anything but Recruit right now because even with decently skilled players, we just get fucking ambushed even when sticking together.

You can get a character ready for veteran after playing about half of the stages, which isn't really too much of a problem considering the game is designed around you running stages multiple times.
As for you dying I don't really have any advice other than getting better at the game because Veteran throws some shit at you but is still totally doable.
Like leeches can get knocked out of the grab move with any kind of attack and the chaos warriors are easily dodgable. It sounds like your group isn't watching each others backs.

This is what really makes or breaks my sessions with this game. If I get into a group that communicates and doesn't split up it almost never fails.

Absolutely. The Left 4 Dead comparisons are very appropriate for this game, but L4D is soloable. You can knock Hunters out of their pounce, stop smokers and Jockeys getting you. You can't shove a Gutter Runner out of the Air or stop a Leech Sorceror. You need your team in Vermintide.

You might not be able to shove but a well timed power attack or hero skill will do the trick.
So does voice chat just not work for this game at all or is it just me?
If they add all the first game's maps, there will be so much fucking content.
