Valve Software’s hugely popular, free-to-play online FPS, Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is to get Oculus Rift support! Oculus Rift users will also be gifted a unique in-game hat. A news release provided by an anonymous source details Valve’s first foray into the world of virtual reality. We take a look at the details and briefly recap the company’s journey to official Oculus Rift supporter.
Sell it on HATS!!
well i like tf2 so thats pretty cool. if i were a wealthy man (and im not) i would surely "check it out" at the earliest possible time
Now for the whole of facepunch to bug garry to run tf2 with rift on our accounts so we can get the hat and get uber rich.
The Oculus Rift looks very interesting to me but I'm going to hold off and see how well its adopted by games, and if older games will receive any sort of support.
I realize that some people may be disappointed with the idea that TF2 would be the first game on OR, but recognize that this would be a perfect way to test how it would integrate into massive online shooters. If it can't handle working in sync with TF2, they have some serious re-working to do. I'm glad they did it with this rather than pussy footing their way into the market with bad titles.
This might be useful for medics but would hinder every other class. I still want to try it though.

it's probably a promo code
3D movies give me migraines.
well have fun with your 3D immersion i guess
I came for the hats
...And after reading it looks like I may actually get one. Sweet.
I would love to play it. Does TF2 Support controllers?
as far as i know valve has admitted that tf2 is basically their guinea pig at this point, so this makes some sense

This is rather different than 3D-movies

Pretty sure, though you will be at a severe disadvantage versus keyboard and mouse wielders.

Are you somehow implying that the Oculus Rift is expensive, because it's really not.
Oh god if the crosshair follows the center of the screen no matter where you look.
Snipers will become the bane of all existence.
Are you somehow implying that the Oculus Rift is expensive, because it's really not.
It may not be expensive for its hardware itself, but it's probably still pretty damn expensive as a product in general.
You got a number for its price?
selling black box on eyes hat for 16 buds no low balling or report :)
I'm looking forwards to buying the Oculus Rift once it's available as a consumer version

This is completely different. If looking through your two eyes to see the real world doesn't give you migraines, the Rift shouldn't either.

Not when you're aiming with your goddamn head. I mean come on.

Well Wikipedia says "consumer version 200-300" which isn't really bad at all. I mean, considering what it is anyway, it's akin to a steer wheel...except even cooler
if i only had actual money to put into the kickstarter i would of.
The dev kit (which is the only kit available atm) is $300
The consumer kit is going to be $200 - $300.
If you can afford a Wii U, you can buy an OR. The real question is, also like the Wii U, is it worth the purchase yet?
Not when you're aiming with your goddamn head. I mean come on.
ideally aiming should be done with the mouse/controller and moving your head shouldn't alter the crosshair's position.
I thought Hawken was supposed to support this "at launch"?
ideally aiming should be done with the mouse/controller and moving your head shouldn't alter the crosshair's position.
but if it does, you're aiming with your HEAD.
Mouses (mice for peripheral? idk) and controllers don't stand a chance.
I cannot wait for the Oculus Rift when it's available for public purchase. Just looks so fucking fun

That are plans for Occulus Support on Hawken. I don't know about you, about when I learned that, I got sold instantly.
But what about this guy?

Time will tell if the Oculus Rift is a Virtual Boy 2 or not

I was never bothered that I couldn't use it because I didn't think I could afford it. I'm pretty upset now
