These are grim days for Marvel's First Family, otherwise known as The Fantastic Four.
Walt Disney-owned Marvel Studios has clawed back the film rights to a handful of heroes in recent years. After a spectacular flop at the box office last weekend, speculation is rampant that the Fantastic Four could return to its Marvel roots.
Industry watchers and fans alike are questioning whether 20th Century Fox can salvage its Fantastic Four franchise after an attempt to reboot the series drew scathing reviews, and opening weekend earnings that fell well short of its $40 million estimate—and its reportedly $120 million production budget.
The outcome could shake up the lucrative superhero film business, giving Disney control of virtually every Marvel character and leaving Fox with only the X-Men.
For the love of god please do. They literally fucked up.
Good, now it will be in the hands of a competent studio. Should give the Fantastic Four the Daredevil treatment and make it into a Netflix series
I see almost every newly released movie at the cinemas (only the ones that at a stretch could interest me). That said, I specifically had no intention of seeing this film.
The trailer looked like some shitty teen rom-com drama bullshit... says a lot that I am definitely going to see both Hitman, and Vacation.
Fox should just stick with their X-Men brand.
I hope they keep it, Marvel would turn it into flavor of the month bullshit that is nothing but a tie in to their cinematic universe leading up to The Avengers. I'd much rather have the masterpieces we've seen in the form of First Class/Days of Future Past.

I'd be fine with this or something similarly small. Doing another rebooted movie series of them would be too much too soon. (I have the same feeling about Spiderman)
What rights have Marvel recently gotten back other than Daredevil?
fantastic 4 is hands down one of the movie to come out of the superhero craze of this millennium.
and too think they had the balls to announce the sequel before this shit pile released

x men is basically the only series that fox hasn't completely destroyed. even then they were mediiocre save the most recent movies

Punisher
Punisher
Is that all? Because it seems kind of an exaggeration to say Marvel has been clawing back film rights. As far as I know they're allowed to use Spider-Man but it still doesn't belong to them.

they got ghost rider back as well
Why the fuck does Lionsgate have Man-Thing and why the fuck are they just squatting on him
I love how Stan Lee is on there.
I doubt these rumors hold any real truth to them.
They're probably all spawned from the fact that Marvel got Spiderman back from Sony after TAMSM2.

Sony still owns Spider-Man, they're just working with Marvel a bit as both parties benefit from having him in the MCU.

Should I be worried of Deadpool being with 20th Century Fox?

Just because Fantastic Four bombed, doesn't mean other marvel movies will.
I've enjoyed the past two x-men films, and from the deadpool trailer it looks like it could be really good.
Though that picture is a bit outdated with spider man being able to be in mcu now. Marvel just doesn't have the complete rights to the character.
I doubt it's going to happen. The only way F4 will return to Marvel is if Fox fucks up and it reverts back to them. Thank god Fox fucked up with Daredevil and it changed hands again.

They did fuck up with F4

They already did.
Fucking BAD.
Second week, its only made 80 mil worldwide, or so im told, 40 domestically.
Now i dont know much about the box office, but if im not wrong, that means they've only gotten like 30 million when you take distributors out.
With a 120-140 million budget, not including marketing.
Not even going into the critical backlash holy fuck.

Its a bomb in every sense of the word.

Yeah. The general consensus from Youtube critics is that the new Fantastic Four was a POS.

I meant that they fuck up and can't put out another shitty Fantastic 4 movie in the 7 years they have now.
afaik, Fox was working on a new DareDevil project in some capacity, but couldn't see it to fruition so they lost the rights.
I think Constantin Film actually bought the rights(in 1986), and they're working with Fox. So in essence Fox is producing and distributing Fantastic Four for Constantin Film. So if Fox gave up on the franchise, it won't go back to Marvel. Whoever controls the decisions at Constantin Film could partner up with another studio.
Marvel could make an offer, they have the bankroll to buy whatever they want, but do they really want FF now? They have plenty of movies lined up for the foreseeable future. If they did make an offer I bet it's a small one. They won't have room on their schedule for a FF movie for years. At most they'd squeeze individual characters in already planned movies here and there.

It's more like marvel does all the work, and Sony gets to make suggestions and received a fat check at the end of the day

Yes.
Why wouldnt they?
Its not JUST The Fantastic Four they'd get back, but the Negative Zone, Anhilus, full use of the Skrulls, Galactus, Silver Surfer.
And.
DOOM.
seeing how much people are shitting on F4 is sad
chronicle was one of the better hero films I've seen, it was really great

In hindsight, it was probably a fluke.

That's a shame. I will never get a Namor movie.

Wrong.
Kevin Feige said they can use Namor, the process to including him is more difficult compared to say, Spider-Man is now, though.
Apparently his rights, for WHATEVER fucking reason, are tied to Waterworld.
