Did the invite get lost in the post, then? Ricky Gervais heads out for a jog after losing out on hosting Golden Globes for a fourth time
He missed out on hosting the Golden Globes for a fourth consecutive year, with the honour instead going to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
And it would seem Ricky Gervais' invite to the prestigious Hollywood event also got lost in the post.
As the great and good of the film industry walked the red carpet at Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday night, the 51-year-old comedian was pounding the pavements just a few miles away.

Wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, a black V-neck T-shirt, shorts and trainers, the British star looked in great shape as he enjoyed his workout.
Listening to music on his mobile phone, the Office star seemed to be fighting fit as he ran around the streets of Los Angeles.

Ricky later lived up to his fun-loving persona by posting a series of funny pictures on his Twitter page, including one of him sat on his sofa with a cold drink in his hand.
And the star joked that he would be wearing practically nothing as he watched the ceremony in action.
Posting a snap to E! News as they covered the red carpet arrivals, he wrote: 'This is what I'll be wearing during The Golden Globes. Does this finally get me on your best dressed list?'
And Ricky didn't seem too bothered to be missing out, cryptically writing: 'Do your own thing. Not anyone else's. You'll like it more.'
The British funnyman also weighed in on Jodie Foster's emotional speech, in which the famously private actress came out as gay.
Ricky wrote: 'When a rich, famous woman comes out as gay, you always get fat blokes saying "what a waste" like they'd have a chance if she was straight.'

Best dressed? The British star told his Twitter followers this is what he would be wearing for the duration of the ceremony

He is a great host. Should have hosted.
Considering he said he only hosted the 3rd one to spite those that said he was kicked out, I'm not surprised he didn't do it this year.
