The thing that never gets me is it's an ad to appeal to the biggest demographic possible so for some reason they name the most obscure aspects of the Japanese pop culture and history.
Let's go down the list:
Acceptable:
* Sushi
* Anime and Manga
* "Japan Period"
Obscure:
* Tea Ceremonies - I think some people know what it is, but I've never met a white person who could perform a tea ceremony nor have I seen one performed at an Anime Expo, they're very quiet events that don't fit into a convention center theme. It'd be like having a funeral at a Rock Concert, it's the wrong atmosphere.
* J-Rock - Mostly weaboos listen to J-Rock, or J-Pop for that matter.
* Girugamesh? It's a band.. I think?
* Gay-Bay? I don't even know what he said. Gangbang maybe? I've never heard this word before.
* DDR although a Japanese product is not exclusively seen as a Japanese activity. With the same reasoning we could say "Mario" was part of the Anime Expo because he's a Japanese product.
* Smile D.K.? It's another band? I think? I dunno.
I don't think the makers of this ad knew what they were doing at all.
